In the 31st edition of SEA Games, which will take place in Vietnam in May, Khanh Hoa Province has 15 athletes and coaches called up to the national teams. Some among them are expected to win glories for Vietnam’s sports as well as Khanh Hoa’s sports.

Athletics is the sport that is most expected to success at SEA Games 31 of Khanh Hoa. For many years, Khanh hoa’s athletics had had difficulties in looking for young talent who could shine as their seniors namely Khanh Doan, Thu Lan, Truc Van, and Hong Hanh. Recently, Khanh hoa’s athletics can shine again thanks to outstanding athletics Tran Nhat Hoang. At SEA Games 30 held in Philippines in 2019, Nhat Hoang won one gold medal in men’s 400m and two ones in men’s relays. He is expected to be able to defend his gold medal at SEA Games 31.

Since his excellent performances at SEA Games 30, Nhat Hoang has been regularly called up to the national team to participate in training sessions at home and abroad. Currently, Nhat Hoang's form is very good and stable; he has successfully defended his gold medal in his forte at the recent national athletics tournaments. Female athlete Phan Vo Nhu Y of Khanh Hoa is also called up to the national team to prepare for the upcoming edition of SEA Games. However, she hasn’t been in her good form; therefore, it will not easy for her to obtain medals.

A lot of Khanh Hoa volleyball athletes (both indoor and beach) will play for the national volleyball teams at SEA Games 31, including coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh and eight athletes (five male athletes and three female athletes) of beach volleyball and three athletes of indoor volleyball. At the recent editions of SEA Games, Vietnam’s volleyball (both indoor and beach) was lagging behind other countries in the region. While Thailand’s volleyball is gradually approaching Asian level, Vietnam’s volleyball is still struggling to regain its position against teams such as Indonesia and Philippines, which are also developing strongly. Hopefully, at the 31st SEA Games organized at home, Vietnam’s volleyball will show progress.

In addition to athletics and volleyball, at SEA Games 31, Khanh Hoa's other sports also contribute athletes to the national sports teams with outstanding faces such as Vu Anh Nhat Thuy Khanh (bodybuilding), who has won a world silver medal; Bui Tuan Anh (weightlifting); Nguyen Nguyen Huu Hien (taekwondo); and Nguyen Chau Dat (muay). It is an honor to represent the nation in an international tournament. Therefore, although these are not the strong sports of Khanh Hoa, hopefully, with this sense of pride, these athletes can perform well in the national uniform, try their best and contribute to the achievements of Vietnam’s sports as well as Khanh Hoa’s sports.
