Cam Lam’s sports movement used not to be highly appreciated because of lack of facilities, equipment and funds. In recent years, sports activities in the district have showed some signs of positive changes thanks to promoted public contributions. The district has regarded public contributions as a lever to promote the development of public sports movement. Therefore, the district has made appropriate policies to call for investment and contributions to sports from benefactors, businesses and people from all walks of life.

Overcoming the difficulties caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2021 and early 2022, Cam Lam successfully organized the opening ceremony of the district-level Sports Festival 2021 and sports tournaments of the festival, including Chinese chess, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, karate, table-tennis, 7-a-side football, etc., participated by thousands of participants from the localities in the district. In addition, in order to promote local sports activities, the district fielded sports teams to participate in seven provincial sports tournaments, achieving 29 sets of medals (7 gold medals, 11 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals).
Currently, 7-a-side football is developing quite strongly among movement sports in Cam Lam. The district’s 7-a-side football tournament held at the end of 2021 attracted 10 out of 14 communes and towns in the district. More than 10 businesses and benefactors sponsored the tournament with an amount of over VND80 million, which helped to increase the scale and quality of the tournament.
However, Cam Lam’s sports are facing some difficulties. For example, facilities and equipment are not enough to meet the professional requirements; funds allocated for sports activities are still low; just some sports have attracted public contributions.
In recent years, Cam Lam’s sports have showed strong development. Public contributions have been carried out quite well, helping the district to invest in sports facilities and improve the quality of movement playgrounds. This is an encouraging result, creating a foundation for the district's sports to develop more strongly.
Cam Lam District currently has 37,042 out of 112,249 people often practice sports, accounting for 33% of the total population; 9,131 out of 28,537 sports households, accounting for 32% of the total number of households. Up to now, the district has 12 multipurpose sports arenas, 8 swimming pools, 13 mini football fields, 38 volleyball courts, 36 badminton courts, and 4 tennis courts.
