Khanh Hoa Province’s sports sector has been making efforts and adaptation to organize and host many big sports events of the province and country amid the complicated evolution of COVID-19.

The 9th provincial Sports Festival, one of the big sports events of Khanh Hoa in 2021, was postponed for a long time and adjusted to suit actual situations. At the end of October 2021, the province issued a plan for the safe adaption to the pandemic prevention and control in the province. After that, the provincial Chinese chess championship marked the return of Khanh Hoa’s sports activities. The tournament was organized in compliance with the pandemic prevention and control measures and without spectators.

The successful organization of the provincial Chinese chess championship encouraged the province’s sector to organize other movement sports tournaments and to host national sports ones. Until now, the province has successfully organized many events of the 9th provincial Sports Festival, including beach volleyball, table tennis, and badminton, football, and beach football. Although the number of participants and quality of these tournaments were not as many and good as the ones of the previous years, it reflected the efforts of the localities and organization boards in maintaining the province’s sports movement.

The province’s sports sector has coordinated with sports associations and federations to organize sports tournaments, for example the National Team Chinese Chess Championship 2021 (held at Ton Duc Thang University); National Shuttle Cock Kicking Tournament, National Bodybuilding Tournament, National U-23 3x3 Basketball Tournament (at the provincial Sport Arena); and the National 7-a-side Football Tournament (at Nha Trang University).

Reportedly, in order to ensure the success of the tournaments and safety of the participants, Khanh Hoa’s sports sector applied and carried out flexibly “closed bubble model”. All the activities related to the tournaments (number of participating units and athletes, accommodations, travel, etc.) were carefully arranged. Pham Ngoc Tuan, director of Viet Football Joint Stock Company, chief of the organization board of the National 7-a-side Football Tournament (VCS-S1), highly appreciated the corporation between Khanh Hoa’s authorities, sports sector and the units which helped to organize the tournament in new normal. VCS-S1 is the first movement football tournament which has been organized professionally in “closed bubble method”.
