Vietnam created many attacks in the first part of the first half. Right from the 10th minute, Doan Van Hau shot from range which just misses the left post.

In the 27th minute, from a corner, Doan Van Hau leapt above Malaysian defenders, creating a great chance for Tien Linh to nod the ball home.

Vietnam intensified their offense and played counter-attack in the second half.  In the 72nd minute, Malaysia were awarded a penalty after Doan Van Hau fouled Guilherme de Paula in the box. De Paula converted the penalty against Vietnamese goalkeeper Tan Truong to level the score 1-1.

65 minutes has gone and Trong Hoang of Vietnam was assisted well by Hoang Duc, but Hoang’s shot went narrowly wide of the goal.

Ten minutes later, Nguyen Van Toan was fouled inside the box by Malaysian defender. Que Ngoc Hai beat Malaysian goalkeeper to put Vietnam ahead again.

Vietnam successfully protected the 2-1 score to the end of the match. They are now on 17 points, still topping Group G. Coach Park and his players only need one point in the match with UAE to secure a spot in the last qualifying round.
