Khanh Hoa Province’s badminton movement is showing some noticeable signs of development. There are many people in the province playing badminton regularly; the localities and badminton clubs in the province often hold badminton competitions and pay intention to improving the players’ skills.

This year, Khanh Hoa’s movement sports, including badminton, have been facing a lot of difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic. However, through the practice and regular tournaments held at the levels of province, city, federation, locality, and club, it can be seen that badminton in Khanh Hoa is developing and proving its attraction to many people.

One of the badminton tournaments which has gained a foothold and proved its position in the province’s badminton movement is the provincial clubs’ tournament. The 20th edition of this tournament, which ended recently, was an example for the attraction and quality of this tournament. Although this year’s tournament was organized at a smaller scale compared to the previous years’ ones, from open tournament to province-level tournament, the number of Khanh Hoa teams remained unchanged; and the competitions’ quality was still good.

212 male and female players of 19 badminton clubs, units, and localities over the province took part in the 20th tournament. This tournament witnessed the appearance of some outstanding young players. For example, two young players Le Nguyen Huy and Nguyen Hoang Truc Ny of Nha Trang University performed excellently and won gold medals in men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed doubles.

Another example for the development of Khanh Hoa’s badminton movement is the tournament for young players held in mid-October by the provincial Department of Culture and Sports. The participants had carefully prepared for the tournament and played with high competitiveness. Nha Trang was still the leading unit in badminton movement in Khanh Hoa, especially in the event for the players aged 11-15. The skills of young players are getting better and better. This is the basis to promote the development of the province’s badminton movement, according to Nguyen Hoang Nhat Quyen, coach of Passion Club of Khanh Hoa University. In this tournament, the players of Passion Club played in the uniform of Nha Trang team and contributed six gold medals to the achievements of Nha Trang, which won first place in team’s event.

Through the performances of the clubs and localities in the aforementioned highly-appreciated tournaments, Khanh Hoa’s badminton movement showed signs of visible progress, which is expected to help to foster the development of province’s movement sports activities.
