As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Khanh Hoa Province will likely to reduce many movement sports contests in 2020.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports is checking its plan for the province’s movement sports contests to make it suitable for the present situation. It is expected that around four to five movement sports contests will be cancelled. The department is collecting opinions from the local centers of culture, information and sports over the city about this plan. The final decision is expected to be made at the end of May.

Provincial U-11 football contest is proposed to be organized as usual

Khanh Hoa Province often formulates plans to organize provincial movement sports contests and host national sports tournaments at the beginning of each year. This year, the complicated and unpredictable development of COVID-19 has led to the suspension of all sports activities over the province. At present, many sports activities have started to resume. However, there is not much time left to the end of the year. The provincial sports sector is forced to consider reducing the number of movement sports contests in order to maintain movement and ensure the quality of the contests. Khanh Hoa maybe organizes 19 public sports contests instead of 23 contests as previous years. 14 contests among 19 will be organized with province’s budget; the others will use province’s budget and public contributions. Contests are expected to kick off in June.

Reportedly, leaders of local centers of culture, information and sports have agreed on reducing public sports contests from 23 to 19. Besides, they also proposed to keep organizing some contests in order to maintain movement.  According to the plan, five contests of morning exercise, cross-country, U-11 football, U-13 football, and volleyball will be cancelled. However, as said by Tran Tung Han, deputy director of Nha Trang City Center of Culture-Information and Sports, U-11 football and U-13 football contests are suggested to be organized in July to create useful playgrounds for children loving football.

Expressing his opinion about this plan, Deputy director of Ninh Hoa Town Center of Culture, Information and Sports Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that football movement among children and teenagers in Khanh Hoa has strongly developed. Several public football training centers have been opened for children and teenagers across the province. Therefore, the province should keep organizing U-11 and U-13 football contests.

The fact that Khanh Hoa Province’s sports sector intends to reduce the number of sports contests in order to maintain movement sports and ensure their quality is suitable for the limited time of the rest of the year. The sector also needs to consider carefully which sports should be organized.
