The 2020 National HDBank Futsal Championship will kick off in Nha Trang City. Nha Trang University’s multifunctional sports arena was chosen to be the venue for the championship’s first round and the first leg of the second round. The national futsal championship is jointly organized by Vietnam Football Federation and the Voice of Vietnam and has been sponsored by HDBank. It is a favorite sport tournament and has captured interest and attracted attention from a lot of strong futsal clubs and fans across the country thanks to its large scale and quality. Therefore, the venue for this championship has always been carefully considered. The fact that the multifunctional sports arena of Nha Trang University continues to be chosen for the 2020 edition is an acknowledgment that the university well organized last year’s edition and also proves the university’s and Nha Trang City’s prestige.

As usual, the 2020 edition of the National HDBank Futsal Championship includes two rounds. The first round, which is scheduled to take place from March 21 to 29, gathers Sanvinest Sanna Khanh Hoa, Tan Hiep Hung, Cao Bang, and Quang Nam (four low-ranked teams of last year’s championship) and Vietfootball (who was eliminated at last year’s first round). These five teams will compete in a single round robin format to decide the four qualifiers for the second round, which already comprises of six high-ranked teams of last year’ edition, namely Thai Son Nam (reigning champion), Sahako (runner-up), Sanvinest Sanatech Khanh Hoa (third place), Kardiachain Saigon FC, Da Nang, and Thai Son Bac. The first leg of the second round will take place at the multifunctional sports arena of Nha Trang University from April 3 to 24; the second leg will be organized at Lanh Binh Thang sports arena (Ho Chi Minh City) from May 25 to June 15.
Reportedly, after Nha Trang University’s multifunctional sports arena was announced to be the venue for last year’s National HDBank Futsal Championship, there were doubts about its competence in ensuring the success of such a large-scale tournament. However, the university performed their preparation very well, providing good facilities for the tournament, ensuring security and safety for teams and fans, and maintaining normal teaching and learning activities of its teachers and students. The success of the 2019 championship helped the university to be chosen again for the 2020 edition.
At present, Nha Trang University is still actively preparing to provide good conditions for the upcoming tournament. Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa has been declared free of Covid-19 under the Ministry of Health’s recently-issued decision. This is a good news not only for the organization board and participating teams of National HDBank Futsal Championship 2020 but also for football and futsal fans in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.
