The ongoing second round of the 2019 national volleyball championship is seeing exciting competitions among the male teams in group C and group D. Sanest Khanh Hoa (S.KH) has still been proving their strength as they maintained their top place in the group and booked their place in the final round with two consecutive wins in the second round.

All three among the four strongest teams at present of Vietnam’s volleyball, namely S.KH, Trang An Ninh Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City, won their first two matches in the second round. Binh Duong Construction Materials, who was a phenomenon at the first round as they overcame strong The Cong to place second in group D, continued their good form with a 3-1 win over Border, one of the current best four teams. However, this “dark horse” suddenly fell down 2-3 against the tournament host Long An, who has been battling against relegation.

Meanwhile, S.KH made no mistakes in their first two second round matches. They defeated Long An 3-1 and then Vinh Long Lottery 3-0, extending their unbeaten streak at this tournament to six and assuring a final spot. If S.KH can manage to keep their first place in group C, they will avoid the encounter with group D’s potential first place Trang An Ninh Binh in the final round.

In group D, the current first place Trang An Ninh Binh is showing their high determination in winning this year’s national championship. This team possesses many quality players such as setter Van Duc, outside hitter Van Da, Ngoc Hoang, Thanh Tung, Trong Nghia, and libero Xuan Thanh. The runner-up of Hung Vuong Cup 2019 had a quality training course in Thailand prior to the national volleyball championship. They had easy wins against Ha Tinh (3-0) and Ben Tre (3-1) in the first two matches of the second round.

Ho Chi Minh City and The Cong are battling for the second place in group D. With two first wins in round 2, Ho Chi Minh City, the 2018 national championship holder and 2019 championship’s first round’s second place, is having an advantage compared to their opponent The Cong.
