Khanh Hoa Province’s table tennis in recent years has made some positive progress as a result of the better investment of the province’s sports sector. Khanh Hoa has aimed to maintain the achievements of the professional players and to build up team of young players. Doan Kien Quoc plays an important role in the development of Khanh Hoa’s table tennis. He is a quality athlete and also a coach, who has helped the province’s young players to gradually become competitive at the domestic national tournaments.

However, Khanh Hoa has still had some difficulties to deal with in order to develop the movement of this sport. The practice of this sport in Khanh Hoa’s localities and schools in recent years has become less strong compared to around ten years ago. The limited funds are also a reason causing the decline of table tennis in Khanh Hoa. Most of the province’s tennis activities and contests take place in Nha Trang. Besides, the province cannot afford enough training courses for the provincial tennis athletes to help them improve their skills.

It needs a driving force and a good investment in young athletes to revive Khanh Hoa’s table tennis movement. Under such a circumstance, the fact that Doan Kien Quoc was appointed to coach the national table tennis team at SEA Games 30 and won a gold medal can be regarded as an important driving force. This has been a meaningful achievement for both Khanh Hoa’s sports and Kien Quoc’s players. This is expected to encourage more young people to keep practicing or start to play this sport.

The remaining matter is that the province’s sports sector needs to promote the investment for table tennis throughout the province. For example, the sports sector can cooperate with the education and training sector to incorporate this sport into schools’ programs; build up teams of talents young players; work together with other agencies to hold quality tournaments; create favorable conditions for young athletes to take part in training courses and tournaments with the players from other localities in the country.
