The 2018 summer first sports activity of Nha Trang was the city cross-country tournament for children and teenagers in mid July. The tournament attracted over 230 male and female children and teenagers from 28 communes and wards in the city, and Nha Trang SOS Children’s Village. Nguyen Van Tho, head of SOS Children’s Village team, said that the children of SOS Village have often felt excited and eager to take part in the sports tournaments of the city where they can enjoy joyful time and exchange with other children. The team prepared well for the 2018 summer cross-country tournament and finished first in the children’s event.

The football movement has also developed quite well in Nha Trang. The football training classes and courses for children and young people of Nha Trang Sports Training and Competing Center, Khanh Hoa Provincial Children’s House, and DBS Public Football Training Center have been contributing effectively to the local football movement. In summer 2018, Nha Trang Sports Training and Competing Center organized a mini football tournament for male teenagers from July 19 to 27, joined by 28 teams. This was said to be an interesting and useful sports activity for young people in summer of Nha Trang.
The swimming and basketball tournaments have also been the familiar sports activities for Nha Trang children and teenagers during summer. The swimming tournament originated from the summer swimming classes to prevent drowning among children. Thanks to the enthusiastic support from the units and individuals together with the strong development of the local swimming movement, the tournament was first organized in 2013 and becomes a familiar and useful playground for the children and teenagers in summer. This tournament has also received active response from the parents.
Nha Trang has sufficient conditions to organize quality movement sports tournament, Vo Ngoc Hung, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, said in a statement. The summer sports tournaments of Nha Trang should be maintained and expanded in order to promote the sports movement in the province.
