Since becoming a member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Sports and Technique Training Center, the number of members of the provincial bodybuilding team has remained unchanged. With only six athletes, the team has had the least member among the high achievement sports teams of the center. However, it has been difficult to recruit new athletes due to the limited funds.
Apart from the workout set-ups to pack on serious muscle, the athlete also need supplements for building muscle which are quite expensive. Therefore, only athletes who are very passionate and can afford the muscle supplements have been able to continue the training to become professional bodybuilders. Besides, the bodybuilding tournaments have been not organized regularly because of lack of funds, resulting in the decline of the bodybuilding movement in Khanh Hoa. “These are the main reasons why the provincial bodybuilding team has not been able to recruit more members,” said Coach Phuong.
Although having faced many difficulties, the provincial bodybuilding team has always contributed effectively to the development of the sports section of Khanh Hoa. At the 24th National Bodybuilding Club Championship held recently in Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, the bodybuilders of Khanh Hoa won four gold medals and one silver medal; three bodybuilding athletes of Khanh Hoa were bestowed master title and one was given level-1 title. Huynh Xuan Dat (55kg category), Le Thanh Minh (70kg category), and Dang Minh Hong (60kg category) were the most outstanding athletes of Khanh Hoa at the championship.
Since 2015, Khanh Hoa’s bodybuilding team achieved ten gold medals, five silver medals and six bronze medals at the national bodybuilding clubs tournaments.
Reportedly, after the 24th National Bodybuilding Club Championship, the athletes of Khanh Hoa’s bodybuilding team gather to prepare for the national championship being slated for the end of this year. Besides, the team will focus on the main target which is the 2018 National Physical Exercise and Sports Festival.
