Vietnamese player tops women's event at Asian Individual Championship (Men and Women) 2017

The representative of Vietnam Vo Thi Kim Phung won gold medal in women's event at the Asian Individual Championship (Men and Women) 2017 held in Chengdu, China in May 11-22.
 

The representative of Vietnam Vo Thi Kim Phung won gold medal in women’s event at the Asian Individual Championship (Men and Women) 2017 held in Chengdu, China in May 11-22.

 

 
Phung, seeded seventh in women’s event, clinched the victory with 7.5 points after nine matches (six wins and three draws). 
 
This gold earned Phung another berth for the World Chess Championship 2018 beside the first one she gained after winning at the Zone 3.3 Zonal Championship held in Tagaytay City, Philippines. 
 
Reportedly, Phung has been the second female player of Vietnam who has achieved Asian championship after Hoang Thi Thanh Trang in 2000.
