The tournament has used some variation of a group stage followed by a single-elimination tournament to determine the champion.
Reportedly, in round 1 held in April, Ho Chi Minh City men’s team ranked the first, followed by Air Defense - Air Force and Jonton. Ho Chi Minh City women’s team held the first position, Soc Trang Team the second and Quang Ninh the last.
