In 2022, the total value of social work and charity service implemented by the Red Cross at all levels in Khanh Hoa Province reached VND75.6 billion, providing assistance for nearly 148,000 people through several practical activities to help the disadvantaged and Agent Orange victims.


The Red Cross is in charge of emergency relief and humanitarian assistance; health care, first aid; blood donation and natural disaster response. Last year, thanks the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee’s concern and support in terms of mechanisms, policies and funding together with Red Cross officials’ efforts, humanitarian activities have been expanded and widened its reach, bringing the effectiveness to be 12.7 times higher than the funding allocated by the State, according to Le Van Hoa, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Red Cross.

Accordingly, last year, Khanh Hoa Red Cross at all levels effectively implemented campaigns launched by Vietnam Red Cross; offered more than 53,000 gifts to the poor, Agent Orange victims and policy beneficiaries; built 286 new houses for the needy, helped nearly 2,660 cases, granted scholarships; and donated food, bicycles and aid to nearly 29,400 people.


In addition, thanks to Vietcombank Khanh Hoa and PetroVietnam Gas Corporation, Khanh Hoa Red Cross built a location of Tram Huong Nursery School in Khanh Vinh District; 2 classrooms and an office at Son Trung Primary School in Khanh Son District.


Implementing the Lunar New Year charity program to guarantee that “no-one is left behind”, the Red Cross at all levels mobilized agencies, individuals and organizations inside and outside Khanh Hoa Province to offer 22,000 gifts to the vulnerable in the province during the Lunar New Year 2023.


Besides, natural disaster response and relief were promptly implemented, providing aid for 2,180 people affected by natural disasters, propaganda for more than 7,110 people, grants for 30 fishermen with boats crashed in storms; giving 1,000 multi-functional life jackets; organizing 4 natural disaster response rehearsals in 4 wards and communes in Ninh Hoa Town.

Moreover, the Red Cross at all levels also promoted community-based health care with medical examination and free medicines for nearly 2,000 people; first aid training for more than 6,310 people; clean water sanitation and disease prevention propaganda for nearly 15,000 people; support for 11 charity kitchens at hospitals in the province with nearly 28,000 meals for poor patients; and 268 wheelchairs for children with disabilities.


Furthermore, the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation from the province to the grassroots has continued to be consolidated to implement the voluntary blood donation campaign. Last year, 73 voluntary blood donation sessions were held with more than 25,000 donors giving over 22,500 units of blood.


According to Le Van Hoa, in 2023, the Provincial Red Cross at all levels will continue implementing humanitarian activities; promoting voluntary blood donation towards building public health care models.
