4 plants listed in Red Book found at Ponagar Temples

4 plants listed in the Vietnam Red Book (2007) and IUCN Red List Categories include Karomia fragrans, Diospyros mun, Cycas pectinata and Siphonodon celastrineus...

According to Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature & Environment, 37 flora species with 100 individuals, mostly native plants and some newly-planted high-value ones such as Aquilaria crassna and Dalbergia Tonkinensis have been founded at Ponagar Temples.

Especially, 4 plants listed in the Vietnam Red Book (2007) and IUCN Red List Categories include Karomia fragrans, Diospyros mun, Cycas pectinata and Siphonodon celastrineus.

Karomia fragrans is endemic to Vietnam, mainly in the 2 provinces of Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa. Besides, Alangium salviifolium and Celtis philippensis are 2 typical rare trees in the Southern Central region.

It is vital to conserve and promote the sustainable development of biodiversity, especially the rare genetic resources.
