According to a report by the Economic Division of Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province, there are nearly 800 fishing vessels, 51 of which are 15m or more in length, in Van Ninh. The district has implemented and boosted propaganda for measures against Illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, requiring 100% fishing vessels, 15m or more, to be installed with GPS black boxes.
Fishing vessel owners are asked to maintain the round-the-clock operation of the GPS black boxes during working at sea for effective monitoring, control, and surveillance in an effort to deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing by 2025.
