Charity meals
 
One day at weekend, the Motorcycle Backpacking Team 79 members were busy handing out free breakfast to patients, lottery ticket sellers and those in hardship in front of the Provincial General Hospital. 250 portions were delivered after more than 2 hours. Receiving a box of porridge, a lottery ticket seller named Nguyen Thi Thom, 52, in Van Thanh Ward, Nha Trang City said, “I come here to receive free meals from this charity group on the 1st and 15th day every lunar month. The food is good and the members are so kind”. Minh Xuan (Dien Khanh District) said: “My father has been treated at the Provincial General Hospital for nearly a month. During the time here taking care of my father, I sometimes receive charity meals. Their good deed has partly warmed my heart and brought me strength to overcome difficulties."

According to Huynh Minh Tuong, 71, in Nha Trang, the leader of the Motorcycle Backpacking Team 79, on the 1st and 15th day every lunar month, the team cooks and distributes free breakfast to the needy in front of the Provincial General Hospital and at No. 6 Nguyen Thien Thuat, Nha Trang. Each portion is worth about VND20,000 and the menu is changed regularly, containing bread, porridge, rice and a glass of soy milk. Up to now, the team has donated more than 7,000 portions to needy families. 
 
Charity journey
 
The Motorcycle Backpacking Team 79 was established initially with 20 members in December 2020. The membership has increased to 40 of all ages and from various backgrounds. 29-year-old Vo Anh Thoai in Khanh Vinh District, said, “The Motorcycle Backpacking Team members are joining to satisfy their passion for not only adventures to different destinations with fascinating cultures, but also support for those in need and action on environmental protection.
 
The members themselves cooked and sent more than 1,000 chung and tet cakes to 2021 flooding-hit residents in the central region. During the Covid-19 outbreak, the team offered nearly 2 quintals of rice and a lot of vegetables, fruits and seasoning to those in need in the 2 wards of Vinh Truong and Vinh Phuoc (Nha Trang); gave 200 gifts, containing milk, confectionery and other necessities worth VND150,000 each to disadvantaged students in Khanh Thuong Commune, Khanh Vinh District. The funding is from the members and other sponsors. The team has invested in 2 poles of land for growing vegetables in Dien Phu Commune, Dien Khanh for charity.
 
In addition, the team has responded to the Community Coastal Clean-up campaign organized by Greentrips Vietnam, the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment. The members together with nearly 800 Youth Union members and young people joined the beach clean-up effort in Vinh Luong Commune, Nha Trang City. 
 
“We hope to take part in many more activities to help the community. In addition to breakfast offered twice a month, the team will also organize several charity activities to help the disadvantaged as well as promote environmental protection in the coming time,” added Huynh Minh Tuong.
