The National Traffic Police has launched a concentrated inspection campaign, focusing on such violations as drug–impaired driving and drunk driving; and then on overloading and illegal modifications to vehicles from March to the end of 2022 in an effort to minimize road crash.

After 2 months implementing the concentrated inspection campaign to assure traffic safety and security during the New Year season 2022, Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Trong Thang, Deputy Chief of Khanh Hoa Public Security’s Traffic Police Department said the traffic police has cooperated with local authorities to enhance propaganda to raise road users’ awareness of compliance with  the traffic law; boost inspection and impose fines on traffic rule violations, including speeding, drunk driving, wrong-way driving, violating pick up and drop off regulations, riding motorcycle without a helmet, failing to use turn signals, driving without a driver’s license, driving without valid vehicle registration, etc on main roads, namely the National Highway 1, National Highway 26, National Highway 27C, National Highway 26B, National Highway 1C and other busy roads with high vehicle density.

In addition, traffic police has closely partnership with local authorities to conduct inspection patrols of inland waterway transportation to prevent such offences as overloading, driving without a driver’s license, without valid vehicle registration, failing to meet boat safety regulations regarding provision of life jackets/lifesaving equipment, etc.
 
Inspection targets at driving under the influence by alcohol or drugs
 
From March 1 to December 31, Khanh Hoa traffic police has built plans to conduct inspections patrols to prevent and impose fines to driving under the influence or driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Measures against Covid-19 are required to be abided by during the alcohol breath testing. Besides, the traffic police are to proactively prevent, detect and strictly handle drug–impaired driving, drunk driving and other illegal acts; and propose management measures, contributing to reducing traffic accidents, especially those related to the use of alcohol and drugs.
 
According to Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Trong Thang, traffic inspection will be conducted along main streets and highways, roads at high risk of accidents, interprovincial, inter-district roads, in border areas, at coach stations, ports, bars, warehouses, discotheques, restaurants, cafes, in areas with order and security challenges and so on.
 
Moreover, the traffic police will boost inspection over overloading and illegal modifications to road vehicles from March 15 to December 14.
