Khanh Hoa Red Cross at all levels mobilized donations totaling over VND79 billion to support 214,600 people struggling due to Covid-19 impacts in Khanh Hoa Province in 2021. The efficiency of its activities is reportedly 14 times higher than the amount allocated from State budget.
 
Fulfillment of social work
 
In 2021,the social work reached the most efficacy with a total cost of over VND56 billion. Specifically, under the campaign “Lunar New Year celebration for the poor and Agent Orange victims, the provincial Red Cross at all levels offered more than 41,660 New Year gifts totaling nearly VND29.5 billion to residents. Nearly 3,134 people in the province benefitted from VND3.9 billion aid under the campaign “Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address”. Besides, the provincial Red Cross at all levels also celebrated the Month of Humanitarian, jointly with many agencies, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province presented scholarships, wheelchairs, bikes, food and foodstuff; funded house construction and repair for many disadvantaged families, people with disabilities, Agent Orange victims totaling over VND22.3 billion.

Receiving an aid gift from the Humanitarian Relief Center under the Provincial Red Cross during the Covid-19 social distancing period, Nguyen Thi Hong (Vinh Truong Ward, Nha Trang City) said: "during the prolonged pandemic, my area was under Covid-19 lockdown many times. The aid from the Red Cross helps us some to get through the hard time”. Getting a box of food and necessities from a free fair organized by the Provincial Red Cross, Tran Thu Thuy (Phuong Son Ward, Nha Trang City) said  her family of 5 was struggling to make ends meet as she lost work due to Covid-19 impacts, adding that, “A piece of food while hungry equals a big box of food while full. Such aid means a lot to me during this tough time."
 
Several humanitarian activities
 
Besides the above activities, the Provincial Red Cross at all levels also organized several disaster response activities via propaganda, emergency relief and training. Especially, the Provincial Red Cross established the Center for Humanitarian Relief in July 2021. Since put into operation, the center has supported thousands of people affected by the Covid-19 epidemic with a total amount of more than VND8.4 billion. The Red Cross has also made efforts to organize 61 voluntary blood donation sessions, receiving more than 19,970 units of blood, with a total value of nearly VND5 billion.
 

The achievements are thanks to the concern and direction of Khanh Hoa Party Committee, People’s Committee, agencies, organizations and individuals at home and abroad. However, the Red Cross activities, including seeking donations to the charity fund have met difficulties due to Covid-19. In 2022, the Red Cross at all levels will continue effectively carrying out humanitarian tasks and activities; running voluntary blood donation campaigns; and mobilizing resources to support the construction of houses for those in need, according to Le Van Hoa, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Red Cross.


 

In 2021, Khanh Hoa Red Cross at all levels launched propaganda drives for more than 11,240 and provided aid for nearly 2,120 residents impacted by natural disasters and offshore fishermen with a total cost of over VND1.8 billion; jointly with many agencies supported community health care with nearly 10,320 disadvantaged people, Agent Orange victims and policy beneficiaries given medical check-ups and medications free of charge. In addition, the provincial Red Cross provided information related to traffic safety, environmental hygiene and Covid-19 prevention and control for more than 33,000 residents together with first aid training for more than 3,880 people.
