Gradually and cautiously opening in safe adaption and response to Covid-19

Khanh Hoa Province is moving step by step, cautiously but flexibly for economic recovery and development in safe adaption and response to Covid-19 under the Government’s Resolution No. 128 and the Ministry of Health’s Decision No. 4800 promulgating the Interim Regulation on safe and flexible adaptation and effective control over the Covid-19 pandemic, shifting away from a zero Covid strategy.

According to Huynh Van Dong, Director of Khanh Hoa Center for Disease Control, the gradual opening is based on three criteria, including high coverage of vaccination, suitable treatment and scenarios of response to new infections detected in the community.

Accordingly, the Covid-19 vaccination coverage rate in the province is high. Khanh Hoa is among one of the provinces and cities with the highest Covid-19 vaccination coverage rate. More than 98.4% adults have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccines with nearly 91% fully vaccinated.

The province has set up makeshift hospitals and the 3-storey tower for Covid-19 treatment; especially, invested in human resource and equipment on the third floor for intensive care units to improve treatment  for critical cases. 99% of patients have been recovered and discharged from field hospitals with the 98% with no or mild symptoms. The critical cases make up 1%.

Localities have well built Covid-19 response scenarios to deal with coronavirus hotspots and new infections detected at markets, supermarkets, businesses, train stations, coach stations and accommodation establishments. Residents have cooperated closely with the local authority and adapted to measures against the pandemic.

Khanh Hoa is at the level 2 of pandemic risk; that means the pandemic is still under control. However, residents are advised to be on high alert for possible Covid-19 infection. To safely adapt to Covid-19 response when joining activities, people are required to comply with 5K regulations and install PC-Covid app. All agencies and businesses are to build Covid-19 response scenarios in case of detection of new  cases.

In addition, to meet the requirements in the 3rd phase of safe adaption and response to Covid-19 and socio-economic recovery and development in Khanh Hoa, the health care sector will implement the Covid-19 treatment with home care for patients with no or mild symptoms next week together with the establishment of community-based health support groups to help such patients.

Furthermore, under the Department of Health, hospitals, medical centers of districts and towns are instructed to provide treatment for both Covid-19 and other diseases; have specific response plans in cases of new infections detected; and add some more F1 individuals subject to home-quarantine; get all 12 to 17-year-olds vaccinated by the end of this year with senior high school students receiving the first Covid-19 vaccine shots this week.
