With the slogan “Your good deed can bring millions of small dreams to life”, Viettel Khanh Hoa scholarship program has presented 1,470 scholarships worth VND1.7 billion to disadvantaged students in Khanh Hoa Province.

Meaningful gifts

In spite of Covid-19 outbreak, Viettel has still tried to ensure the scholarships reach those in need. The scholarships presentation program was held solemnly in accordance with Covid-19 prevention and control. The students were so joyful to receive the scholarships.

Vo Thi Thanh Nhan, class 8, Nguyen Trung Truc Junior High School, Van Khanh Commune, Van Ninh District, said, “I am so delighted to get the grant, VND2 million from Viettel. I will use it to buy a smart phone for my online learning. This is my dream for a long time. We have online classes at home amid the resurgence of Covid-19 outbreak, but like many other friends, I don’t have a computer or smart phone for learning online. So I have to go to my friend’s house and learn with her. It’s quite a bit inconvenient.”

Viettel Khanh Hoa scholarships are offered to kids in Cam Lam District.

Vo Thi Thanh Nhan is the third child of a family with 5 siblings. Her older sisters and brothers have stopped schooling due to poverty. She herself had thought of missing out on school to earn a living but thanks to the assistance and support of local authority and sponsors, she continued her effort to study at school.

Ngo Kim Ngan, a fifth-grader at Van Phuoc Primary School, Van Phuoc Commune, Van Ninh District was also very happy to receive a scholarship from Viettel Khanh Hoa. The family with 5 children depends on the modest income from her father as a masonry helper and her mom as an unstable hired labor. Her parents have been out of work for  4 months due to Covid-19, leaving her family more struggling with daily expenses.  However, they still try their best to ensure all the children continue their education at school. Ngo Kim Ngan studies hard to become an excellent student every year to reciprocate her parental sacrifice.

“I will ask my parents to buy me a learning desk with this scholarship. I will try my best in study to reciprocate my teachers, benefactors and parents for the kindness and support. I hope the Covid-19 will soon end so that I will return to school to study and have fun playing with my friends.”

Education is investment in the future of the country

With corporate social responsibility and the point of view that “Education is investment in the future of the country”, Viettel Group has implemented many social activities over years such as funding charity heart surgery, smile operation; offering 24,000 breeding cows to farmers in border areas, providing care for policy beneficiaries, soldiers and teachers in remote and island areas.

In addition, Viettel has applied information technology in education and training, especially through a broadband Internet universalization program at 100% of schools and educational institutions nationwide. Besides, Viettel is also the pioneer in deploying many comprehensive management solutions for schools and training institutions and many student financial aid programs.

Viettel has held programs committed to showing gratitude to the community and building a sustainable society. Doing business in telecommunications services in remote areas, Viettel has realized that many students here are still suffering from financial hardship with lack of school supplies. Many are at risk of dropping out of school because their families are too poor. The financial student aid program began operational 7 years ago on the occasion of 10th anniversary of Viettel mobile telecoms service, contributing to assisting many poor students in Khanh Hoa Province with their academic pursuits. VND2 million scholarships can be exchanged for learning equipment or bikes to put more children in school, keeping them on track to complete their education.

This is the 7th year the financial aid program for students has run in Khanh Hoa. Viettel has offered VND540 million worth of scholarships to school children in 27 communes in 5 districts and townships in Khanh Hoa Province. They include 10 scholarships in Cam Lam, 40 in Van Ninh, 80 in Khanh Son, 130 in Khanh Vinh and 10 in Ninh Hoa. Each scholarship is worth VND2 million, according to Nguyen Thanh, Director of ViettelPay channel Viettel Khanh Hoa.

Viettel Khanh Hoa has contributed to joining effort to empower poor students to access learning opportunities and pursue their dreams for a better life, ensuring  the assistance goes to those in need thanks to the support of local authorities, the Department of Education and Training, the provincial Study Promotion Association and management boards of local primary and junior high schools.
