Khanh Hoa Public Sector Trade Union has implemented various activities to support disadvantaged members and workers impacted by Covid-19; as well as urged members and laborers to join local departments and authorities’ response to the pandemic.
 
Sharing burdens with Trade Union members
 
Phung Van Quy, a staff at the Provincial Nursing and Care Center for Policy Beneficiaries has been temporarily laid-off without pay from May 2021 due to Covid-19. Facing great financial difficulties, he has tried another job as selling pop corns but still struggling to make ends meet. Khanh Hoa Public Sector Trade Union has provided VND1 million aid to his family. "I am so glad to receive such assistance during the hard time. The gift has given us encouragement to overcome the current difficult circumstance,” he said.
 
Luu Thi Thanh Liem, a caregiver for those with mental disorder at the Social Support Center, has also been offered VND1 million in support of financial hardship due to a temporary layoff since early 2020 during the coronavirus crisis. Her family of 3 used to depend on her monthly income of more than VND6 million. She is so happy to receive such assistance to buy school items for her children.

According to the leader of the Provincial Public Sector Trade Union, many workers have been hit hard by coronavirus economic shock from the 4th wave of coronavirus. To share the financial burden with its members and workers, the Provincial Public Sector Trade Union has provided more than VND40 million from its fund to support 39 members and workers in need; and proposed the Provincial Confederation of Labor would provide assistance VND1.5 million/person to F1 individuals. Grassroots Trade Unions have also provided assistance to hundreds of members struggling due to Covid-19. The Provincial Public Sector Trade Union is continuing making a list of Covid-19 patients, F1 and F2 individuals for assistance consideration.
 
Proactive relief efforts 
 
Over the past time, the Provincial Public Sector Trade Union has directed 62 grassroots Trade Union affiliations and 10 central Trade Union affiliations to cooperate with local authorities to strictly conduct proactive enforcement  of Covid-19 prevention and control measures; deployed thousands of staff to join the frontline officials in the battle against the pandemic. Especially, many Trade Union affiliations have also sought donations to help residents in lockdown areas. Many Trade Union members have rolled up sleeves, even working overnight to help with Covid-19 contact tracing and monitoring efforts, distributing food assistance to those impacted by the pandemic. The grassroots Trade Unions of Khanh Hoa Women’s Union, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial Youth Union, Khanh Hoa Newspaper, Department of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs, Khanh Hoa Labor Confederation, etc.
 
Grassroots Trade Unions have also actively urged cadres and civil servants to contribute more than VND886 million to the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Fund. In particular, 52 grassroots Trade Unions have mobilized members to contribute one day’s pay totaling more than VND1.1 billion so far to support the pandemic prevention and control. In addition, grassroots Trade Unions have also contributed more than VND68 million to the Children's Fund; over VND74 million to the Trade Union Housing Fund; more than VND58 million to the campaign "“Each organization or individual is attached with one humanitarian address”, ensuring  care, support and financial aid with scholarships, VND100,000 to VND300,000/person, for children of cadres, public servants and workers.
 
From now until the end of 2021, the Provincial Public Sector Trade Union will continue directing grassroots affiliations to implement Covid-19 prevention and control measures; strictly following local political tasks and the direction of the Party Committees at all levels; effectively promoting the emulation campaign "Khanh Hoa officials and employees strive to overcome difficulties, be creative and determined to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic" and other emulation campaigns; protecting the rights and benefits of members and employees struggling financially in the face of the pandemic, according to Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the Provincial Public Sector Trade Union.
