Nha Trang City is making adjustment to the master planning till 2040; and collecting ideas and suggestions about the detailed 1/500 planning in the west of Nha Trang in order to achieve the goal of full planning to create a basis for appeal for investors in the urban development in the west of Nha Trang City.

Planning initiative

The master adjustment plan of Nha Trang City till 2040 is in the completion process of collection of residents’ opinions and suggestions before submitted to the authorities for approval. The consulting unit which is the National Institute of Urban and Rural Planning (Ministry of Construction) has also proposed forming 17 zones under planning, each with specific guidance for Nha Trang City development, in a total area of 26,783 hectares in Nha Trang City.

Earlier, the Government had approved the Nha Trang City master planning till 2040, which includes 1,287ha in the 2 communes of Dien An and Dien Toan in Dien Khanh District. Therefore, in the future, the west of Nha Trang City, which consists of urban areas to the west of Nha Trang City center and communes close to Dien Khanh District such as Vinh Thanh, Vinh Trung, Vinh Hiep and communes bordering Nha Trang City such as Dien An and Dien Toan is expected to become an urban hub connecting 2 big administrative centers in Khanh Hoa Province.

The provincial People’s Committee has allowed Dien Khanh District People’s Committee to make adjustment to the master planning till 2040 in an area of 34,380ha. The ongoing projects will create planning unity for the development of urban areas in the future. The objective is to achieve full planning of land use, technical traffic infrastructures, construction density, etc., providing favorable conditions for the development of projects, urban areas, commerce, industry or investment appeal, said Tran Nam Binh, Director of the Department of Construction.

Appealing investors

According to Vietnam Institute for Urban and Rural Planning, the west of Nha Trang City is attractive with green village landscape. In the past 10 years, the population density in this area has doubled, but lush gardens still remain in most of the area. However, its technical infrastructure system has not been fully improved to commensurate with that population growth. Therefore, the consulting unit has proposed that urban centers would be associated with the landscape of green space and water surface with less hard embankment at Quan Truong River; and recommended cycling routes and a new railway station.

According to Phan Viet Hoang, General Secretary of Khanh Hoa Association of Real Estate Brokers, Vo Nguyen Giap Street is the main connection route linking the west and east of Nha Trang City with neighboring areas. The route is 10km long and 60m wide connecting with the National Highway 1. Several urban projects completed and planned to start along Vo Nguyen Giap Street such as My Gia, Vinh Trung, Phuc Khanh 1 and Phuc Khanh 2 have contributed to forming modern residential areas on the outskirts of Nha Trang City and Dien Khanh District in the coming years.

The Ring Road 2, over 11km long and 39- 43m wide, in the west of Nha Trang City connecting the city’s north and south axis was opened to traffic in early 2021. This is considered as a “golden road” as it runs through many urban area projects, namely VCN Phuoc Long, VCN Phuoc Hai, Le Hong Phong I, II, An Binh Tan, Nam Vinh Hai and so on. In the future, many urban area projects are about to get started, contributing to attracting investors when the planning is completed.

Tran Nam Binh added the 2 strategic routes Vo Nguyen Giap and the Road Ring 2 form a key traffic junction at the gateway in the west of Nha Trang City. The complete proper planning will serve as a basic premise for the development of the west of Nha Trang City in the future. This area is expected to appeal investors in the real estate sector when the epidemic is controlled and the economy gradually recovers.

According to Phan Viet Hoang, General Secretary of Khanh Hoa Association of Real Estate Brokers, the west of Nha Trang used to be a vast low land up to thousands of ha, mainly agricultural land, shrimp ponds and paddy fields. 5 years ago, no one, even residents in Nha Trang could imagine such development now in the west of Nha Trang City.

The area used to be inundated and cut off by flooding in rainy seasons. Thanks to the provincial leaders’ proper policies in the orientation of urban development in the west of Nha Trang City. The implementation of 2 key projects connecting Nha Trang City center with its western area, has helped facilitate the development of modern urban areas today and in the future.
