Nguyen Hai Ninh, Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; and Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee presided over the Provincial Standing Party Committee’s meeting with the Provincial Epidemic Prevention and Control Board on continuing boosting Covid-19 prevention and control in the province on April 28.
Comprehensive measures implemented
At the meeting, Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee stated since the first Covid-19 case reported in January 2020, the province has activated and implemented several comprehensive measures against the pandemic and keep it under control. Accordingly, the province has zoned, traced and quarantined more than 18,000 suspected cases coming back from epidemic areas, citizens returning from abroad, experts, ship and flight crew, etc. Currently, 1,546 cases, mostly immigrants, ship and flight crew are being managed, tracked and quarantined. Among 117 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 87 cases have recovered and 30 cases are being kept in quarantine and treated.

Currently, three SARS-CoV-2 testing units in the province include Khanh Hoa Center for Disease Control with an average capacity of about 380 samples/day; Khanh Hoa General Hospital: about 280 samples/day; and Vinmec Nha Trang International Hospital about 100 samples/day. Together with Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, the testing capacities have ensured convenient and effective Covid-19 case investigation, Contact Tracing and Monitoring in the province.
Together with the preventive health system, the Department of Health has classified treatment levels. Accordingly, Covid-19 isolation zones are made available at medical centers in the province in order to promptly receive cases indicated for centralized isolation. Covid-19 patients with mild or no symptoms are isolated and treated in their localities. Moderate and severe patients are referred to Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases for treatment.
On high alert for Covid-19 infection risks
Concluding the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh instructed the Party Committee, Party organizations, authorities, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations at all levels to focus on implementing the direction of the Standing Secretariat, the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, the Ministry of Health’s guidance; the Provincial Standing Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee’s guidance on strengthening epidemic prevention and control in the new situation; particularly, restricting large gatherings, ensuring pandemic prevention and control measures; raising the alert for Covid-19 infection risks, especially on the occasion of April 30, May 1 and during the time of the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and the municipal People’s Committee, term 2021-2026.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee assigned the Secretary of the town and district Party Committee and heads of the Party Committee of agencies to directly ensure the pandemic prevention and control procedures in the localities and agencies and take responsibility to the Provincial Standing Party Committee and Provincial Party Standing Committee for the epidemic prevention and control. He requested the Provincial People's Committee to swiftly activate COVID-19 prevention and control procedures in the province at a higher level; relevant localities and departments review the capacity of isolation zones (civil and military) to ensure rapid response to any emergency.
The Provincial Steering Committee for Human Disease Prevention & Control was required to assign its members to regularly inspect and supervise epidemic prevention and control, especially at medical establishments, schools, tourist accommodations, large production establishments, coach stations and airports; and give strictly punishment to cases of violation; to promptly localize and track the movements of coronavirus patients in an attempt to get a grip on the outbreak ahead of a potential surge in infections. The health sector was asked to continue implementing well the Covid-19 vaccination plan, especially for those in the frontline against the pandemic.
The Secretary approved proposal of the Provincial People's Committee on the cancellation of fireworks display on the occasion of April 30 and May 1; only rituals (no festive activities allowed) for Ponagar Temples to serve residents and visitors in compliance with the epidemic prevention and control instructions. Local agencies, organizations and enterprises are asked to maintain and assess the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control safety and update on the nationwide map. The Provincial Party Committee’s Commission of Propaganda & Training was instructed to strengthen propaganda to raise public awareness of epidemic prevention and control measures, especially strictly implementing the Ministry of Health’s “5K” recommendation, particularly the use of face masks in public places, on public means of transport and at events with big crowds.
