Khanh Hoa Department of Health has just built Covid-19 vaccination plan in the province, period 2021 - 2022.
According to Bui Xuan Minh, Director of the Department of Health, the plan is to protect vulnerable people and the community from Covid-19. 95% of vulnerable people and the community are expected to be given two doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
Khanh Hoa has a population of more than 1.2 million, including nearly 1 million aged 18 and older. Only people aged 18 and over can get COVID-19 vaccines according to regulations, so nearly 1 million people in the province are expected to be vaccinated.
The recommended dosage for AstraZeneca vaccines is two doses, so 2 million doses are required for nearly 1 million people in Khanh Hoa Province. According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccine costs approximately VND120,000/dose. More than VND200 billion is required to buy 2 million doses of vaccines, excluding other expenses for propaganda, injection, screening and other equipment.
Reportedly, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has approved VND140 billion to buy vaccines. Under the Prime Minister’s instructions, the Ministry of Health will allocate vaccines to cities and provinces nationwide, including Khanh Hoa. The provincial vaccination schedule is based on the supply of vaccines from the Ministry of Health.
The Department of Health has provided consultancy for the Provincial People's Committee to open Covid-19 vaccination for all in the province in the period of 2021 – 2022. The department is also working with the Ministry of Health to get preparation for the COVID-19 vaccination in accordance to the Government's regulations.
The VND140 billion funding from the budget is expected to be needed for Khanh Hoa residents receiving the 1st shot and about 1/5 of the people receiving the booster. To ensure 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for all in 2022, together with the budget, the Provincial People's Committee is mobilizing businesses, organizations and individuals to contribute to the purchase of vaccines. Currently, Khanh Hoa has received donation from many agencies to the vaccination so far.
Everyone is urged to continue adhering to the Ministry of Health’s “5K” guidelines and recommendations, including facemask, disinfection, distance, no mass gathering and health declaration to keep themselves safe from the COVID-19 pandemic. The existing vaccination system for the national open vaccination program from the provincial level to commune levels will be used for the Covid-19 vaccination in the province. Other vaccination services will be mobilized when in need.
There will be fixed and roving vaccination locations to assure adequate coverage and equal access for everyone. The Medical Center of districts and towns will be in charge of implementing the vaccination program in the localities. Each person will receive 2 doses with 3 months apart. Those with severe allergic reaction reactions when getting the first dose will not be given a booster.
