Khanh Hoa Interdisciplinary Steering Board for Food Safety has just made a plan to implement the Action Month for Food Safety 2021. 
 
According to M.A Vo Hong Van, Chief of the Provincial Agency of Food Hygiene & Safety, the Action Month for Food Safety 2021 themed “Ensuring food safety and preventing food poisoning in the new normal”.
 
The action month is to boost propaganda for food safety, raise organizations, businesses and individuals’ responsibilities of for following food safety regulations; boosting food safety inspection at food manufacturers, businesses, advertising establishments to reduce food poisoning due to unsafe food and preparation;  raise awareness of local authorities, management agencies, social organizations’ roles and consumers’ supervision towards the compliance of food safety laws.
 
The action month is scheduled to take place on April 15 – May 15, focusing on inspection together with propaganda boost to raise public awareness of food safety. Accordingly, the main activities include boosting propaganda and guidance for food producers and handlers on how to produce, store and prepare food safely; keep personal hygiene to prevent food contamination and food-borne diseases; disseminating knowledge and enhancing responsibility in food production, trading and advertising according to the law; encouraging consumers to choose and use safe food, avoid fake and poor quality food; eat healthily, etc.
 
At State management agencies, the Steering Board will check and evaluate their fulfillment of responsibilities for ensuring food safety; propaganda and education and conducting food safety inspection.
 
At food manufacturing, trading and processing establishments, the Steering Board will check the compliance with the food safety regulations, food safety law and relevant documents; conduct inspection at manufacturing, trading and processing locations and take samples for testing in case of suspected food fraud. Any agencies, organizations and individials violating food safety regulations will be given strict punishment, including seizure and destruction of the infringing products.
