According to Vo Hong Van, Chief of Khanh Hoa Food Administration Division, the division has carried out random inspections, implementing Khanh Hoa Department of Health’s decision dated January 19 to detect SARS-CoV-2 on packages of frozen food. The inspection was conducted at 6 businesses of imported refrigerated goods.

The freezer space is able to prevent the influence of temperature, humidity, insects, animals, dirt, strange smell and negative environmental impacts; with enough light and sufficient ventilation.

The storage zones are large enough for separate kinds of food, ensuring hygiene during food storage, maintaining safe distance from ceilings, walls and floors in accordance with safety standards; food preservation regulations by producers’ instructions; together with temperature monitoring of food storage space according to regulations. The establishments are fully equipped for food preservation and trading.

The origin and expiry date of food traded at the establishments are shown on their licenses and other documents, namely declaration of imported goods, certificates of quarantine of imported animal products issued by relevant authorities. Product self-declaration profiles and labels are in accordance with regulations. No frozen food of poor quality or out of date was detected at the time of inspection.

35 samples of the outside of refrigerated goods were taken and sent to Khanh Hoa Center for Disease Control for SARS-CoV-2 testing. 35/35 samples (100%) were tested negative for the coronavirus.
