Vietnam's second COVID-19 vaccine named Covivac studied by the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC), will be tested on humans on January 21-22 for the first trial phase, said Duong Huu Thai, Director of IVAC.
 
Previously, IVAC's Covivac vaccine was successfully tested on animals, giving safe results and creating high immunity. The testing on humans will be on 150 healthy volunteers aged 18-59 without underlying diseases. After the first trial phase, the testing for the second and third phases will be begin. "The vaccine is expected to be released on the market in late 2021 or early 2022 if the results of the three phases are good,” confirmed Duong Huu Thai.

Other firms joining the COVID-19 vaccine research include the Vaccine and Biological Production No.1 Company; Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals; and Nanogen Biopharmaceutical Joint Stock Company.
 
The COVID-19 vaccine of Nanogen Company began its human trial phase 1 from December 2020. After the trial, volunteers are still in good heath condition.
