Vocational schools in Khanh Hoa Province have recently opened vocational classes to improve labor skills in businesses. The support has helped not only improve product and service quality but also widen laborers’ knowledge to better meet work demand as well as raise income.

Practical benefits

Since October, 32 staff of Khanh Hoa Sanest Restaurant & Products Promotion One Member Co., Ltd have been attending a course to improve work skills. Most of the staff has had labor contracts of 3 months or more. “I've been working here for 10 years. With the knowledge and skills I learned years ago, I cannot keep up with the changes and development of the society, especially increasing requirements in the restaurant service. Customers look forward to not only delicious food but also consummately professional and attentive service. I have developed skills from the course in my work and received more customers’ satisfaction and the business owner’s appreciation. This is really a rewarding course that I want to have a chance to attend every year,” said Ta Sy Hoan, a staff of Khanh Hoa Sanest Restaurant & Products Promotion Company.

"The training support policy is very essential. After only a short period, most participants have improved their problem-solving, communication and service skills, helping to raise customer satisfaction and attract visitors. The company hopes such training courses with specific specialty every year will be held for employees," said Lam Dieu Viet, Director of Khanh Hoa Sanest Restaurant & Products Promotion Company.

To be continued

Under the policy on vocational support for enterprises, the Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs has conducted a survey on training needs to improve employees’ skills in most enterprises in the province. On that basis, the department has directed vocational schools to coordinate with enterprises to choose suitable time, location and speciality for the classes. Accordingly, vocational schools have provided training for nearly 1,000 employees in about 50 enterprises with a total budget funding of nearly VND2 billion in 2020. The training is free for employees and businesses.

The constant socio-economic development, especially the fourth industrial revolution, has created significant changes. Therefore, much investment in production and business has been made. Employees are required to adapt to advanced technologies. On that basis, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has directed local departments and agencies to assist enterprises, especially small and medium-sized ones, in improving employees’ skills.

2020 is the first year the Department has implemented the policy on labor training support for enterprises. With the efficiency and benefits gained, based on the demand of enterprises, the department will continue implementing the support training policy to improve employees’ skills in 2021 and beyond, contributing to helping businesses improve production and business and raise employees’ income, according to Van Dinh Tri, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
