Khanh Hoa Department of Transport has issued a plan on passenger transportation service during the coming New Year and spring festive holiday 2021. Accordingly, the festive holiday lasts for 20 days on February 2-21 or from the 21st day of the last lunar month to the 10th day of the first lunar month of 2021.
 
Pandemic control and fare hike inspection
 
During this occasion, Khanh Hoa Department of Transport has instructed enterprises to make plans to prepare for New Year holiday travel service, especially from Nha Trang City to northern provinces before Tet and Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City after Tet. Transportation businesses are required to meet the increased travel demand and minimize traffic jams to assure travel convenience and safety during year-end trips back home for the holiday.
 
According to Cao Tan Loi, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation, during the unprecedented outbreak, drastic measures against the pandemic have been maintained during the passenger transportation such as taking temperatures, wearing masks and using hand sanitizer. Vehicles failing to meet the pandemic prevention and control regulations are banned from running. Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation has also required businesses to abide by the road traffic law, defining limited driving time, not exceeding 10 hours/ day and not 4 consecutive hours, with at least 2 drivers on duty on the route more than 300km or 10 hour of travel.
 
Businesses are not allowed to increase fares during the coming Lunar New Year Day without permission under the price stabilization policy and the direction of the Ministries and provincial People’s Committee. Fare hike is not allowed during the New Year Day and additional fees for the Lunar New Year Day will be taken into consideration and announced before December 28.
 
Road work put on pause before Feb. 2, 2021
 
To assure traffic safety and facilitate travel during the Lunar New Year 2021, Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation has instructed road traffic units to urgently have plans to repair roads, bridges; check traffic signs, especially in areas at high risk of congestion; and maintain force on duty for traffic control.
 
Bidders are required to accelerate road work and construction site cleanup to make sure the space is sanitary and safe for travelers. Regular inspection will be conducted to facilitate travel, especially on main streets namely Nguyen Tat Thanh, Pham Van Dong, Tran Phu, Le Hong Phong, National Highway 1C, Provincial Road 2, Provincial Road 8, Provincial Road 9, Provincial Road 1A, etc.
 
In addition, road management agencies are instructed to clear overgrown bushes and weed blocking signs on roadsides; dredge ditches and maintain road signs and lane markings for traffic control in populated areas, turnabouts, passes, hilly roads and curves where visibility is decreased and locations at high risk of accidents. Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation will suspend issuing road work permits from February 2 to February 21, 2021, according to Nguyen Thanh Son, Chief of Traffic Infrastructure Management Office, Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation.
 
Urban and infrastructure management offices of districts and towns have cooperated with relevant authorities to check inland waterway traffic routes serving tourism as well as prevent the trawling that affects the operation of ships.
