Novartis provides health care support for more than 10,000 residents in Khanh Hoa

Novartis Vietnam Co., Ltd. cooperated with Khanh Hoa Department of Health held a workshop to develop a project on enhancing primary healthcare for residents in Khanh Hoa Province on November 20. More than 10,000 local residents are expected to benefit from the quality health services from the project.


The workshop received the attendance of representatives of Khanh Hoa Department of Health, Center for Disease Control, district and commune medical stations in Khanh Hoa. This workshop was considered a milestone following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Khanh Hoa Department of Health and Novartis Vietnam towards the universal health coverage and sustainable development goals of the United Nations, of which Vietnam is a member state.

Reportedly, Khanh Hoa is the 2nd out of 8 provinces within the Ministry of Health’ project in cooperation with Novartis to strengthen the healthcare system in the local setting. The project is scheduled to run from November 2020 to December 2021, focusing on adults aged around 40 suffering from hypertension and diabetes.


Specifically, the project will include activities to improve public awareness of primary health care, positive lifestyles; focus on promoting information exchange and close cooperation between local medical stations and polyclinics in medical centers and district-level general hospitals. Besides, the project also has a program to improve professional competence of medical staff at grassroots-level facilities and increase the availability and accessibility of healthcare services, especially improve prevention and management of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and hypertension-related cardiovascular diseases.


Novartis is honored to accompany Khanh Hoa Province and the Ministry of Health through the development of the cooperation model towards bringing a positive impact on the health of 10,000 residents in 3 commune health stations. Khanh Hoa health care facilities are expected to have plans and expand successful interventions across the remaining 139 communes, according to Amitabh Dube, country president of Novartis Vietnam.


The project kick-off workshop on enhancing primary health care in Khanh Hoa has confirmed Novartis’s commitment to accompanying and providing heath care improvement in Vietnam from the grass-roots levels, contributing to overload reduction at tertiary level hospitals as well as assist in improving public awareness of primary health care in Vietnam.
