In response to the emulation campaign themed “90 practical activities for the sake of women and children” launched by Vietnam Women’s Union, Dien Khanh District Women’s Union has held many activities in support of poor women and children.
 
Proactively responding
 
According to the leader of Dien Khanh District Women’s Union, the district Women’s Union at all levels has organized several activities and models towards poor women and children in response to the emulation program, especially inherence to action theme of the Year of Safety for Women and Children since the beginning of the year 2020.
 
Since the launch of the campaign, the district Union at all levels has proactively responded and achieved satisfactory results, specifically maintaining and promoting the model "Intervention and support for women and children exposed to violence and abuse"; promptly intervened and provided legal advice, health care and assistance for children.

The Union has also implemented the "Week of Saving” to help Union officials and members in need, providing VND1 million aid each for 7 members in difficult circumstances; sought donation to give uniforms to 30 primary school children; built and repaired 10 homes; donated funding to 8 members; offered 26 means of livelihood; scholarships to 98 students, sponsored 6 children; offered school bags to 30 children, and bicycles to 10 students; installed 9 hand wash basins at nursery and primary schools and People's Committee locations; maintained cabinets of free stuff "Get it when you need" to help members in Dien Toan Commune; and donated 7 health insurance cards. 
 
Moreover, in the support of the COVID-19 prevention and control, more than 2,300 members, women and 118 children in difficult circumstances have been promptly provided by the Union with funding, food and other supplies for disease prevention and control such as thermometers, masks, disinfectants, etc worth VND475 million.
 
Inspiring examples 
 
In response to the launch, many individuals and organization have stood out in the campaign. Dien Tho Commune Women's Association built 2 homes and installed 4 hand washing sinks at primary schools. Dien Phuoc Commune Women's Association mobilized support for 222 women in need, gave savings books to 2 orphans, 30 school bags to students, installed 3 hand wash basins at kindergartens, distributed 6 tons of rice and 24,000 eggs to disadvantaged members  with a total cost of more than VND165 million. Dong Mon Association Branch, Dien Khanh Town provided VND15 million/ person/ quarter for 2 poor women with disabilities. “Tuy Tam” group in Dien An Commune gave aid to 146 poor households and offered gifts, including rice, noodles, milk, cakes and candies totaling over VND87 million, to orphans at Loc Tho Pagoda.
 
Outstanding individuals include Le Thi Thu Hien, a member in Binh Loc Commune. She organized the Mid-Autumn Festival and distributed 100 notebooks, 150 candies and gave support to 2 women in need with a total amount of VND21 million. Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, a member in Dien Dong Commune, offered 300 cloth masks to prevent COVID-19, gave 2 health insurance cards to needy members, presented 2 scholarships, and gave 20 gifts to women and children. Mai Thi Se, a member in Dien Dien Commune, offered non-interest loans to 4 disadvantaged women, VND10 million each for economic development; supported 47 lonely old people and 12 poor students with a total amount of VND50 million.
 
Various practical activities have been organized, promoting and expanding humanism and the spirit of "The undamaged leaf would support the torn leaf", bringing happiness to thousands of poor women and children in the district, giving them more chances to overcome difficulties and move forward. The Union will continue promoting these activities in the coming time, according to Ngo Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Chairperson of Dien Khanh District Women's Union.
