Viettel has implemented many social activities, especially through the student financial aid program, contributing to assisting thousands of poor students in Khanh Hoa Province with their academic pursuits.

Meaningful motivation

Implemented since 2014, the program launched by Viettel has helped providing schooling assistance for many poor students. This year, Viettel Khanh Hoa has continued to offer 200 scholarships to the poor in the districts of Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh, Cam Lam and Van Ninh.

Le Thi Thien Thu, class 9B, Luong The Vinh Junior High School, Van Tho Commune, Van Ninh District said, “My family is poor. My father is suffering from a severe disease. The family burden is taken up by my mother who earns low income from working for hire. Many times, I thought of dropping out of school to work and support my family with 2 younger siblings. However, I am encouraged to continue my education. Making great effort in study, I am a good student for 8 successive years. Especially, in the 2020 – 2021 school year, I won the third prize in the district excellent student contest in geography. The scholarship is such an encouragement to me.”

My Nghinh, a Raglai person, an 8th-grader at Le Van Tam Junior High School, Lien Sang Commune, Khanh Vinh District is happy to receive a scholarship from Viettel Khanh Hoa. She is from a poor family with 4 siblings. Her whole family burden is on her parents’ low income from working for hire. My Nghinh wishes she would have a bike to go to school. “With the scholarship, I could buy a bike to get to school. I will try my best in study to reciprocate my teachers, benefactors and parents for the kindness and support,” she said.

Many charity activities

According to Luu Hoang Long, Director of ViettelPay Khanh Hoa, there are still many poor students in need of help with necessities, even small study items.  Many are at risk of school drop-out due to poverty. Therefore, since 2014, the student financial aid program run by Viettel Group has contributed to empowering hundreds of poor students to access learning opportunities and pursue their dreams for a better life. The program is committed to lasting for 10 years, offering scholarships worth VND26 billion to poor students nationwide.  In Khanh Hoa alone, 1,190 scholarships worth VND1 million each have been presented to needy students so far.

Viettel Khanh Hoa has cooperated with Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training, Provincial Student Promotion Association and local authorities to make a list of recipients. The financial aid, VND1 million/scholarship, is not much but believed to make a difference by helping students to buy school items and other necessitates for their academic pursuits.

Moreover, Viettel Khanh Hoa has applied information technology in education, especially through an Internet broadband training program in all schools and educational institutions throughout the province. Besides, Viettel Khanh Hoa has also taken the lead in developing several all-round management solutions at schools and educational institutions together with preferential programs for schools and students. Furthermore, the unit has also provided support for heart surgery and smile operation; offered breeding cows to poor residents; donated saving books and gifts to the disadvantaged.
