Over 91 years of construction and development, Khanh Hoa Trade Union has fulfilled its duties committed to promoting workers and laborers’ solidarity to overcome difficulties. Besides, the Trade Union at all levels has also organized various activities to assure workers’ legal rights and improve their working and living conditions.
Several achievements gained
Nguyen Hoa, Chairman of the Labor Confederation says the Trade Union at all levels has boosted propaganda for the State policies and laws among workers over the past years. Khanh Hoa Trade Union has focused on improving Trade Union officials’ competence, developing membership and strengthening grassroots Trade Unions. Emulation campaigns, especially “Excellent labor, Creative labor”, have been expanded. Since 2015, the campaign has received more than 11,000 initiatives and 90 products, helping save hundreds of billions dongs for enterprises and the society. 40 workers have been awarded certificates for creative labor by the General Labor Confederation.
In addition, the Trade Union at all levels has taken workers’ ideas and aspirations into consideration to fulfill the functions of protecting workers’ legal rights and benefits; collected members and workers’ suggestions about policies related to workers’ legal rights and benefits; negotiated, signed and implemented collective bargaining agreements to assure members and workers’ legal rights, contributing to promoting harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations; regularly inspected and supervised the implementation of policies and laws related to employees' rights and obligations; improved legal consultancy; proactively participated in the proceedings against social insurance violation to protect employees' rights; and joined employers in formulation of wage scales, wage tables and determination of labor norms pursuant to the law at enterprises. Furthermore, since 2015, the Trade Union’s Housing Fund has mobilized more than VND7 billion for house construction and repair for 140 poor workers.
Standing by workers’ side
Over the past time, Khanh Hoa Trade Union has signed agreements with 23 units and enterprises to provide discount products for members and employees, benefiting nearly 100,000 members. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Khanh Hoa Trade Union has offered more than 1,000 gifts in support of workers in need; and cooperated to offer over 32 tons of rice through ATM rice dispensers to over 10,700 workers.
During national holidays, the Trade Union at all levels have offered train tickets, rent buses for workers’ trip back home for their New Year holiday; organized sporting and cultural activities to improve members and laborers’ spiritual and mental life etc.
Nguyen Hoa said that in the coming time, the Trade Union at all levels will focus on improving its officials’ competence, developing membership, establishing grassroots Trade Unions; regularly propagandizing law among members and employees in enterprises; implementing grassroots democracy regulations, improving collective labor agreements to protect and further employees’ benefits and interests.
Trade Union organizations are required to improve their operation so as to effectively protect employees' rights and interests in the integration period. Trade Union officials must understand employees’ aspirations to protect their legitimate rights. Therefore, the Trade Union at all levels must proactively guide and support employees in signing labor contracts; demonstrate the role of representing workers in building, negotiating and signing collective labor agreements in accordance with regulations; supervise and inspect the implementation of terms in signed labor contracts, collective labor agreements; and promptly resolve requests and recommendations to protect employees' legal rights.
