Street decoration with colorful flowerbeds has been added by Nha Trang City women to make the city more beautiful, contributing to achievements in honor of the Communist Party Congress at all levels.
Colorful flowerbeds
Parterres with colorful Portulaca beneath shady trees can be seen on Ly Nam De and Phong Khong, Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang these days. Such beautiful flowerbeds are thanks to daily care by Phuoc Long Ward Women’s Union members. “Every morning, on the way to do morning exercise, we stop at the parterres and water the plants to keep them fresh and thriving thanks to buckets of water from nearby homes. After a period when the flowers finish blooming, we trim, cut them off and propagate for renewed vigor to assure beautiful blossoms every day,” said Huynh Thi Ngoc Thuy, Chief of Phuoc Trung 1 Branch while watering the flowers on Ly Nam De Street.

Nguyen Thi Nga on Phong Khong Street said, “The parterre is located in front of my house. I always spend time admiring amazing blossoms in late morning. I water them every afternoon and propagate them every a few months to keep them beautiful all year round. "Besides plating flowers, I have also joined with other members to remove illegal ads, helping raise locals’ awareness of keeping the city clean and green,” added Le Thi Hong Van on Cao Thang Street.
Since the end of 2019, the Union has mobilized members to plant flowers and tidy Phong Khong Street and the model has proved effective. Since early 2020, the union continues expanding the model on Ly Nam De Street, 500m long, running through 5 branches whose members have decorated more than 40 parterres with flowers beneath shady trees with 100% of funding from the community. Phuoc Trung 1 Branch has done the most with 24 parterres filled with colorful flowerbeds. In the coming time, the Union will continue encouraging its members to create more flower beds under trees, according to Le Thi Hoang Nga, Chairwoman of Phuoc Long Ward Women's Union.

Nha Trang City Women's Union has registered to implement the project "Nha Trang women for the public health", with an estimated budget of VND50 million from the community funding and contribution of the Union, including planting flowers on some streets in response to the emulation campaign to make achievements in honor of the Communist Party Congress at all levels, especially Nha Trang City Communist Party Congress. Flowers planted by the Union branches include Black-jack, Portulaca and colored plants under more than 200 trees on 6 streets. The work has an estimated funding of VND36 million, according to the leader of Nha Trang City Women's Union.
6 branches responding to the flower planting include Phuoc Tien (Me Linh Street, the section from Nguyen Trai to Ngo Gia Tu); Tan Lap (To Hien Thanh Street); Phuoc Hoa (Van Don Street, section from Tan Vien to the Le Hong Phong Street); Phuoc Hai (Le Hong Phong street, section from the medical station to the ward People's Committee); Loc Tho (Hoang Hoa Tham Street, section from Le Thanh Ton to Nguyen Chanh); Phuoc Long (Phong Khong and Ly Nam De streets). Blooming flowers are seen on Ly Nam De and Phong Khong streets now.
Nha Trang City Women’s Union launched the emulation campaign in early 2020 to contribute to achievements in honor of the Communist Party Congress at all levels, especially Nha Trang City Communist Party Congress. Each branch has many responding activities in support of poor women and children and for the community’s sake such as seeking funds for livelihood assistance to help women in need, granting scholarships to poor children and orphans, providing heath insurance cards for single moms in need. Besides, each branch has registered to decorate 1 street with flowers and many branches have done a good job. Specifically, Phuoc Long branch has decorated 2 streets with flowers. The model has proved effective and thus it is expected to be expanded to the block 2 of inner city branches next year, according to Nguyen Thi Phuong Duyen, Chairperson of Nha Trang City Women’s Union.
