Khanh Vinh District Red Cross has developed several charity activities in the spirit of mutual support and cordiality reaching out to those in need in Khanh Vinh, a disadvantaged mountainous district in Khanh Hoa over the past 10 years.

Housing grants for the poor

The poor families of Ha Hieu and Cao Liet in Khanh Phu Commune, Khanh Vinh District, happily moved to a new house in late March after 1 month of construction. The 2 new houses were funded by the District Red Cross thanks to donation from individuals and organizations. Each house, 30m2, was worth some VND50 million, including VND40million from the District Red Cross and the rest from the house owner.

A resident named Cao Liet says, “I have no land for production. My wife and I earn our living from cash-in-hand work, struggling to make ends meet. My small old house collapsed in Damrey Typhoon in 2017 and then temporary housing was built from corrugated iron sheets and tree trunks. We are so happy to have a new house with space for my children’s learning. I couldn’t have such a new house without the district Red Cross’ support.  This has inspired us to greater effort to escape from poverty.”
