Young guys with passion for barbering from A Tai Barbershop, Nha Trang City has brought delight to disadvantaged children by giving them free haircuts.

The charity haircut program run by the A Tai Barbershop chain has reached many needy pupils and children in remote areas over the past 2 years. The shop owner Le Ngoc Tai says his businesses started in 2010 with so many difficulties. Now when his business is doing well, he wants to help the poor and motivate them to work hard to overcome their difficult circumstances. In 2018, he contacted Youth Union affiliations, localities and other charity organizations for cooperation to give free haircut in many schools and communities.

A charity haircut program has just taken place at Vinh Truong Primary School, Nha Trang City. Many children excitedly waited for their turns. “This is my first time to have haircut at school. We also receive candies. We are so happy,” says Nguyen Gia Bao, class 5/6.

Le Ngoc Tai felt reluctant at first when doing the charity work as some people may think free haircuts will not be well done. “Therefore, I always ask my staff to do it carefully. I have received good feedback from everyone. This is motivation for our further effort. After just a short time, our charity work has been known to many. Some units have contacted us for free haircuts for children,” he adds.

More than 30 members from the barbershop chain take turns to join 6 or 7 free haircut programs every month. Besides, A Tai Barbershop has also sought for donations from sponsors, including our regular clients or friends to offer gifts such as textbooks and bikes to children in severe need. It has also provided discount vocational training and created jobs for many.

A Tai Barbershop chain has provided vocational training for more than 100 young people and created jobs for over 50. Since 2018, they have cooperated with Khanh Hoa Youth Union, Khanh Hoa Youth Federation and Youth Union affiliations to join many charity activities. Besides gifts, free haircuts have been offered to locals and children in need. With such contribution to campaign activities, young volunteering, vocational training and job creation, the barber shop has been mobilized by Khanh Hoa Youth Union to establish a Youth Union of the private sector to enhance Youth Union’s role towards private sector units, according to Nguyen Khac Duy, Vice-Chairman of Khanh Hoa Youth Federation.
