Child care, protection and education in Khanh Hoa Province have been focused with practical activities, especially for vulnerable and poor children, helping to promote their all-round development and achievements.
 
No child is left behind
 
There are 300,000 children in Khanh Hoa, according to Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalid & Social Affairs. Over the past years, Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has directed local departments, agencies and organizations to well abide by the Children’s Law; and issue specific policies to turn the law into reality. The locality has proactively built practical action programs interrogated with the development of targets of local socio-economic plans to facilitate children to flourish and achieve all-round success.

Child care, protection and education have been effectively assured through practical activities such as adapting the environment for children, enhancing education and training to assure all children’s access to schooling; providing a safe and sound environment for children to achieve all-round development; organizing forums and activities for children to express their ideas and thoughts; launching and donating to the Social Work Center and Children’s Fund; visiting, offering gifts and scholarships to disadvantaged children, etc. Particularly, the School Milk Program has remained operational in Khanh Hoa Province over years. 
 
The combination in multi-level and multi-sector concern and effort has brought effective achievements in child care, protection and education. In the period 2018 - 2019, 100% of children were reported with legal birth registration. 90% of children with specially needs were provided support, care, rehabilitation and consultancy. Most orphan, homeless and abandoned children are cared for by the community and Khanh Hoa Social Service Center; 100% children under 6 were given medical insurance cards; 100% of children infected with HIV/AIDS were under care and treatment; Agent Orange victims received assistance and care. Local departments and agencies proactively tackled child abuse and violence.
 
Propaganda boosted
 
The Action Month for Children 2020 themed “Joining hands to protect children and prevent child abuse is launched with various practical activities, focusing on assuring a safe and sound summer vacation; organizing a children’s forum, children’s club and programs initiated by children to boost children’s rights; providing life skills, especially for the prevention of child abuse, accidents and injury.
 
Hundreds of gifts and scholarships are expected to be presented to children in need on the occasion of the International Children’s Day and the Action Month for Children. These are practical activities, helping children to play and develop in a safe and nurturing environment.
 
Especially in the Action Month for Children 2020, all departments and agencies and the community are required to well implement the Children’s Law, raise awareness of families, schools and community’s responsibilities for building a safe environment for children to gain knowledge and develop essential skills for all-round spiritual and physical development; boost community participation and investment infrastructures to build appropriate play areas, assure safe summer vacations; and provide support for the needy to help them overcome difficulties, according to Vo Binh Tan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
