In addition, the association at all levels has cooperated with local departments and agencies to provide favorable conditions for members to attend training courses on agricultural techniques. The District Veterans’ Association has frequently organized study tours for excellent members and cadres to learn from effective economic models to increase productivity. Besides, the association at all levels has helped facilitate its members’ access to loans from the Bank for Social Policies for production and business expansion. Since 2014, through the District Veterans’ Association, more than 300 members have been offered loans from entrusted funds of the Bank for Social Policies with a total loan balance of over VND10 billion. Several affiliations have also built self-contribution funds worth hundreds of million dongs to provide loans for members for production development.

The loans have been effectively used, contributing to expanding production and thus improving living standards. Furthermore, over the past yeas, many members have given mutual assistance through various activities such as exchanging farming techniques, providing seedlings, offspring with no interest, etc.

Thanks to the economic efficiency and poverty alleviation campaign launched by the District Veterans’ Association, various effective initiatives and models have been deployed for economic development. Veterans’ families have made great attempt to successfully escape from poverty and thrive sustainably through effective economic models such as afforestation, cultivation of green skin grapefruits and oranges, combination of fruit crop and breeding on hill farms, etc.

210 poor members have been lifted out of poverty and there are no longer dilapidated houses since 2014. The number of families recognized for business efficiency has increased with over 41% being wealthy homes, including 35 at commune level, 31 at district-level, 17 at provincial level and 3 at national level.

“Khanh Vinh is a mountainous district with a majority of ethnic minority people. Many are still suffering from economic hardships. Over the past years, Khanh Vinh District Veterans' Association has promoted solidarity and made great effort to fulfill its tasks. Especially, the campaign on mutual support for poverty reduction and business efficiency has inspired comrades’ solidarity and commitment, promoting the self-reliance, dynamism and activeness of the association at all levels. Through the campaign, many production and business models have brought practical effectiveness and helped improve veterans’ material and spiritual life, contributing to successful implementation of local poverty alleviation and socio-economic development programs,” says Tran Van Hanh, Chairman of the Provincial Veterans' Association.
