Khanh Hoa Children’s Fund has implemented a variety of programs to improve childcare in disadvantaged coastal communities in Khanh Hoa Province, providing them with better learning conditions.
 
10-year-old Le Thi Kim Lien in Ninh Hoa Town was happy to receive a scholarship from the Children’s Fund. Her mother named Nguyen Thi Hoa says, “We are very grateful for the concern and assistance of the local authority in bringing up our child.”
 
Huynh Minh Thu, Cam Thanh Bac Commune, Cam Lam District has also got a scholarship. Her father died in an accident at sea a few years ago and since then the family burden has been taken up by the mother. Understanding the family hardship, the girl is very obedient and diligent. She always helps her mom with the housework.

Another recipient named Nguyen Ngoc Hong Phuc whose father is working at the Brigade 146, Naval Zone 4 in Cam Thanh Bac Commune, Cam Lam District says, “I feel happy and lucky to receive the scholarship. I try my best to learn better so that I will be able to financially support my family when I grow up. I am grateful for the assistance of all benefactors.”
 
Each grant is worth VND2 million raised in the art program "For children in marine and coastal areas” to help children of fishermen and soldiers working on the Spratly Islands. The scholarship program is in a financial burden sharing effort to raise public awareness of improving severely disadvantaged children's life, according to Luu Thi Ngoc Lien, Acting Director of Khanh Hoa Children’s Fund.
 
3,269 children are still in need of community help in Khanh Hoa. Over the past years, local departments, organizations and benefactors have joined effort to organize many meaningful programs with scholarships offered to needy students.
 
The target in 2020 is severely disadvantaged children dropping down to under 1.3% and 98% in good care and protection. Besides, the department will build specific schemes to maintain a safe and healthy environment to assure children’s rights, narrow gaps in living conditions, improve life as well as create equal development opportunities for all children, according to Vo Binh Tan, Vice-Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs.
