Project on 2nd phase Road No. 4 accelerated

The contractor of the project, 2nd phase of the Road No. 4, Nha Trang City is accelerating the progress in an effort to open the road to traffic by the end of April and complete other work items by May 10 at the latest.

 

In 2016, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee agreed in principle the investment in the Road No. 4 (2nd phase), Nha Trang City. However, due to funding difficulties, the project has not been implemented until 2017 when the project was approved by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee. Accordingly, the 2nd stage has a total length of more than 803m with a 22.5m wide roadbed, 10.5m road surface and 6m sidewalks. The total investment of the project is nearly VND27 billion, including more than VND16.5 billion from the provincial budget and the rest from the investor for the section through Hoang Long Urban Area (about 350m long from Road No. 23 to Road No. 25).

The leader of the Management Board of Agriculture & Rural Development Construction Projects says that the construction started a long time ago but it was postponed due to difficulties related to funding and technical infrastructure connection. In early November 2016, the provincial People's Committee requested U.P.G.C Geological & Construction Investment Company to quickly transfer the funds under the expenditure of the investor to be able to meet the construction schedule. The project was then redeveloped, starting with construction bidding.

 

The construction officially restarted in December 2018 and the poor weather with rain and flooding caused a construction delay of about half a month. In order to make up the time, the investor has asked the contractor to work at full capacity with 3 shifts in many periods to meet the schedule. Up to now, the road has been paved with macadam gravels, ready for asphalt concrete, according to Quach Thanh Son, Director of the Management Board of Agriculture & Rural Development Construction Projects.

 

During the project implementation, the contractor has met many difficulties, especially related to the connection of underground technical infrastructures. According to the plan, the road No. 4 is cut by the road 25 that will be constructed soon. The end of the road intersects with the existing road No. 28 where there is a drainage system for many roads running towards Quan Truong River. The water system has an aperture with a diameter as large as 2,000mm, so the connection work is very complicated and expected to take at least 5 days.

 

The 2nd phase Road No.2, Nha Trang City is expected to open to traffic by the end of April and other work items are scheduled to finish by May 10 at the latest, reports Quach Thanh Son. The 2nd phase construction of the Road No. 2 plays an important role in improving urban trafffic infrastructures, contributing to developing transport in the western city. When the road was opened, local authorities will consider traffic flow distribution to reduce the traffic load on the existing Le Hong Phong Street, according to Nguyen Van Dan, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport.
