Le Duc Vinh, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee’s Deputy Secretary, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman met with Kunio Umeda, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam and Kawaue Junichi, Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24. 
 
The meeting focused on provincial outstanding socio-economic achievements; and cooperation potentials between Khanh Hoa and Japan. Kunio Umeda expressed his impression about the beauty and great development potentials of Khanh Hoa. The Japanese Ambassador discussed cooperation potentials in economic projects, namely Van Phong 1 Thermo-electricity Plant by Sumitomo Group, and other sectors such as seafood processing, tourism, etc.

Le Duc Vinh confirmed Khanh Hoa’s favorable conditions for Sumitomo Group to develop the project and the site clearance completion for the project inauguration. He also expressed the hope that the Japanese Ambassador would provide a link between Japanese travel businesses and Khanh Hoa to boost Japanese tourists to Khanh Hoa. Khanh Hoa welcomes Japanese investors in such fields as seafood exploitation, processing; high-tech industrial and agricultural development; electronic industry, shipbuilding auxiliary industry, etc.
 
6 projects by Japanese investors with a total capital of USD31.75 million have been put into operation in Khanh Hoa so far. Khanh Hoa has reached an export turnover to Japan at approximately USD114 million and received 15,000 Japanese tourist arrivals.
