An English speaking day held by Khanh Hoa Children’s House on May 27 provided an opportunity for young English learners to practice and improve their English language skills.

The English speaking day drew the participation of many pupils, mostly children taking courses at  Khanh Hoa Children’s House. The organizing board arranged different language zones for pupils to show their skillfulness and practice English language listening and speaking skills.

In the sensecom area, teachers gave instructions in English on how to acquire knowledge quickly and setting the depth of understanding and memory by getting combination of senses in learning process. In the play dough party area, children could immerse themselves in inspiration and imagination with modeling clay. However, to have modeling clay, children were required to ask their teachers in English. The teamwork area was maybe the most crowded with children playing in groups of 5. Players had to pass 3 stations, namely singing English songs, guessing English words via gestures and playing a memory and observation game. The event took place for only 4 hours but left great impression on participants.

Pupils join team work with foreigners.

The English speaking day is held every summer to provide opportunities for young learners to promote their English communicative skills through English language use in daily life. The event aims to help pupils to apply what they have learnt at school into daily activities. This is the fifth time the event has been held. Foreign teachers are invited as team game coordinators to help children more confident in communicating with foreigners, according to Nguyen Phuong Doanh, Director of Khanh Hoa Children’s House.

“This is the third time I have joined the English speaking day which has provided me a chance to speak English to other friends and foreign teachers. I have become more confident when talking in English,” says Trinh Nguyen Thanh Vinh, a pupil at Phuoc Hoa Primary School, Nha Trang City.

A pupil named Chau Tan Khiem, Phuoc Tan 2 Primary School, Nha Trang City, was so eager to join the event. He was the most interested in the team work where he could communicate with foreign teachers with confidence and enjoyment. Parents showed great support for the event which they thought very helpful and practical for their kids.
