Motivation to go further

According to the leader of Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the installation of a 700-ton crane aims to meet the increasing demand for shipbuilding and achieve the company's long-term development goals in production and business. Right at the beginning of 2021, the company had a plan to invest and in July 2021, the company signed a contract with Hyundai Infra Solution Company (Korea) for the manufacture of a 700-ton crane.

On June 29, 2022, all components of the crane were transported to Vietnam. After 3 months of installation, on September 13, the crane tower was operating smoothly and safely, ready to be put into shipbuilding of Hyundai Vietnam Shipyard. According to specifications, the crane has a total weight of 3,700 tons and a lifting capacity of up to 700 tons. The height of the crane is about 88m from the dock. The whole equipment has an initial investment value of 31.6 million USD. In order to operate, the company also has to invest an additional USD 5.53 million for the expansion of premises and production equipment…

Lee Jong Chan - General Director of Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. affirmed that with the installation of the 700 ton Goliath crane, the company will increase the annual production capacity from 108,000 tons to 136,000 tons and can handle the growing volume of shipbuilding without any hitch. The event of installing a 700 ton crane is a major turning point in the company's production and business activities. With this crane, the company will increase shipbuilding capacity and meet many new areas of shipbuilding, reducing the time to assemble a ship to below the 48-day mark compared to the current one, improving efficiency and reduce production costs. This is a solid foundation for the company to build more than 20 ships per year. In the coming time, the company will try to reach out further and develop to become the world's leading shipyard.
