According to Vo Khac En - Deputy Director of the Fisheries Sub-Department, the cage lobster farming industry thrives in farming areas of Van Ninh, Cam Ranh, Nha Trang, and Ninh Hoa. The province had only 21,320 lobster cages in 2010, 40,620 cages in 2017. The figure has increased to 63,400 cages now, with an output of about 1,500 tons/year.

In order to sustainably develop the aquaculture by cages on sea, including lobster farming, the provincial fisheries sector is urgently completing a pilot project to develop high-tech marine aquaculture in Khanh Hoa until 2030. On the basis of re-evaluating the current situation and potentials of commercial lobster farming, the project also studies appropriate lobster farming locations, farming technolog and adaptation to climate changg; focuses on monitoring environment, proactively preventing and fighting diseases, developing logistics services, creating stable output for farmers… Besides, to attract investment in marine aquaculture in general and lobster farming in particular, the fisheries sector is consulting on policies to support insurance for workers on rafts and means of aquaculture, and support for disaster risk insurance for farmed aquatic products.
