In recent years, forestry development of Khanh Hoa Province has achieved many positive results, making an important contribution to raising the current province's forest coverage rate to 45.7%.

In recent years, forestry development of Khanh Hoa Province has achieved many positive results, making an important contribution to raising the current province's forest coverage rate to 45.7%. In order to boost forestry development in the coming time, recently, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued the sustainable forestry development program for the period of 2021 - 2025, which identified a number of key tasks and priority areas.
 
Over the years, the forest cover rate of the province has increased, reaching 45.7% by 2021. Currently, the province has more than 245,164 hectares of forest (including more than 176,425 hectares of natural forest and more than 68,738 hectares of planted forests).
 
Tran Minh Thu - Deputy Director of the provincial Forest Protection Department said, the sustainable forestry development program of the province for the period 2021 - 2025 sets out requirements to manage, protect and develop existing forest and forestry land effectively; implement silvicultural projects to increase the forest cover rate in the province to 46.5% by 2025; implement the socialization of forestry activities to mobilize investment in forest development, ecological environment protection, biodiversity conservation, provision of environmental services forest; develop forestry to partly create jobs and increase income for people in mountainous areas; ensure the supply of raw materials and other products for the forest product processing industry; invest in basic construction works to support the management and protection of forests, gradually improving the quality of forests, increasing the forest area through zoning and regeneration activities…

To effectively implement the program, the task is to well protect the existing forest area, especially the natural forest area; effectively implement forest fire prevention and fighting, ensuring that 100% of forest areas effectively managed; conserve biodiversity... Tran Minh Thu said the Provincial People's Committee has identified four priorities for investment in sustainable forestry development in the 2021 - 2025 period, including: investing in forest protection, forest fire prevention and control, development of special-use forests, protection forests and coastal forests; developing forest tree varieties and planting large timber forests; developing of non-timber forest products; developing wood processing industry. In which, forest protection, forest fire prevention and fighting, and development of special-use forests, protection forests and coastal forests are the province's top priorities. Accordingly, the province will focus on investing in the protection and sustainable development of natural forests, special-use forests, protection forests and production forests; effectively implement programs and projects on biodiversity conservation of forest ecosystems; invest in equipment to protect, prevent and fight forest fire; build infrastructure for forest protection, forest conservation and development at forestry companies and forest management boards.
 
In addition, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the local authorities and forest owners will focus on implementing 8 groups of solutions to effectively implement this program. Accordingly, the province will develop new mechanisms and policies to encourage sustainable forestry development. Along with that, the province will focus on propaganda to raise awareness about forestry development; well manage the planning of forests and forestry land in the area; renovate production organization, apply science, technology and forestry extension to the forestry; focus resources on forest management, protection and development...
