To prepare to attract investment in the industrial sector, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee is urgently reviewing and finding suitable land funds to add the planning of new industrial zones to the province’s Planning for the period of 2021-2030. This is a necessary and strategic step to create momentum for the economic development.

Planning more industrial zones

Currently, the province has 4 industrial zones, including Van Thang, Ninh Thuy, Suoi Dau and Southern Cam Ranh with an area of about 1,000 hectares. Suoi Dau Industrial Zone has completed infrastructure investment and started operation; Ninh Thuy Industrial Zone is building infrastructure; Southern Cam Ranh Industrial Zone and Van Thang Industrial Zone are calling and selecting investors. In the planning of Van Phong Economic Zone, the province has more Doc Da Trang Industrial Zone and Ninh Tinh Industrial Zone.

Based on the province's industrial development orientation to 2030, associated with the general planning to turn Khanh Hoa into an urban center directly under the Central Government, it is essential to continue to choose land for new industrial zones. In addition, the infrastructures of seaports, aviation and road infrastructure have been built. Therefore, finding more land fund to propose the planning of new industrial zones is of great significance in promoting the development of transport infrastructure. These two fields will create mutual impact and common socio-economic development.

Nguyen Minh Thu - Vice Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee said that currently, the plans for the North - South highway, Buon Ma Thuot - Nha Trang highway and seaports have been formed, but the industry in west of Ninh Hoa has been still little. Meanwhile, this area still has a lot of infertile land and inefficient farming. Therefore, Ninh Hoa Town desires the province to have the planning of industrial zones in order to take advantage to create a driving force for the economic development.

Many potential areas

Recently, the Management Board of Van Phong Economic Zone proposed 5 new industrial zones. Van Ninh district has 2 industrial zones, including Xuan Son Industrial Zone (oriented as an ecological industrial zone in Xuan Son and Van Hung communes) with an area of about 300ha and Van Luong Industrial Zone (oriented as high-tech industrial zone in Van Luong Commune) with an area of 200ha. Ninh Hoa town is also proposed to have 2 industrial zones, including Ninh Son Industrial Zone (an industrial zone specialized in pharmaceuticals in Ninh Son commune) with an area of 620ha; Ninh Xuan Industrial Zone (supporting industries in Ninh Xuan and Ninh Sim communes) with an area of 1,000 -1,200ha. Particularly, Dien Khanh district is proposed to have Dien Tho Industrial Zone (light industry and supporting industry in Dien Tho commune) with an area of 350ha.

Nguyen Trong Hoang - Head of the Management Board of Van Phong Economic Zone said that over the past time, the management board has worked with the People's Committees of Dien Khanh, Van Ninh and Ninh Hoa to discuss and agree on the planning of new industrial zones, adjusting industrial zones in the area into the provincial planning. Based on the results of working with localities, the management board proposed to study and supplement the planning of 5 new industrial zones with a total area of 2,500 ha. The new industrial zones will be in Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa and Dien Khanh. These are the areas near the ports of North Van Phong, South Van Phong and Cam Ranh. According to the economic development orientation of the province as well as the current trend, 5 new industrial zones will be ecological, pharmaceutical, high-tech and auxiliary. Secondary projects are encouraged to develop multi-sectors and multi-fields but must be convenient for State management of enterprises and the environment.
