Fish waiting for output

To remove difficulties and help farmers consume grouper, the People's Committee of Cam Lam district has specific solutions, directing relevant sectors, localities and mass organizations to support and find output. In addition to establishing 3 support selling points, the District People's Committee also recommended and supported by provincial authorities to connect, promote and introduce grouper products to domestic and foreign markets. Currently, the locality continues to connect and mobilize businesses, seafood processing facilities and people to join hands to support grouper consumption. The consumption will be connected by the local government to the farming households so that the seller - the buyer can directly exchange prices, output...

Grouper raising households in key areas of Cam Lam district such as Cam Duc town and Cam Thanh Bac commune also fall into the same situation. Vo Van Toan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Duc town said: "There are 42ha of grouper farming ponds, gathering in Bai Gieng Nam, Bai Gieng Trung and Tan Hai with about 800 tons each batch. Currently, more than 200 tons of groupers has not yet sold. The locality is actively coordinating with the branches of the province and district to find output and support farmers to sell grouper." In Cam Thanh Bac commune, tens of tons of groupers are still being kept to wait for output. The biggest hope of grouper farmers is that the Covid-19 epidemic is soon controlled, the market recovers, and then the sale of groupers will be better.

Explaining the reason why groupers and many other aquatic products are difficult to consume, some traders said that the market for groupers in Cam Lam district is mainly Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces. Due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic, these localities implemented social distancing, and the market's demand decreased, so recently very few traders go to Cam Lam district to buy groupers with a large number. Currently, the price of groupers has decreased by more than 50% compared to normal, to only about 150-160,000 VND/kg.

According to Vo Khac En - Deputy Director of the Provincial Fisheries Sub-Department, not only in Cam Lam district, due to the influence of the Covid-19 epidemic, many types of farmed aquatic products of local farmers in the province have not sold yet. Specifically, 200 tons of snails, 100 tons of jackfish, 160 tons of cobia fish in Van Ninh district, 25 tons of snails and 20 tons of sea fish of all kinds in Ninh Hoa town have not yet consumed. In addition to setting up points to support seafood consumption for farmers, provincial departments and agencies are actively connecting to support farmers to consume outside the province. The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has also introduced and provided information on products, as well as contact points for departments, branches, units and localities to introduce, promote and support seafood consumption for farmers in Cam Lam district in particular and in the province in general.
