A workshop to discuss "Current situation and solutions for implementing the one commune one product (OCOP) Program for Khanh Hoa Province" has been organized recently. The province is making efforts to increase the value and find outputs for OCOP products.

According to the report of the provincial Rural Development Department, implementing the OCOP program for nearly 3 years (2018 - 2020), the province has developed a plan to standardize 52 products, 26 of which are rated 3 - 4 stars. Typical examples are durian, purple sugarcane (Khanh Son district), fresh mango (Cam Lam district), dried mango (Cam Ranh city), fried and steamed fish cake (Van Ninh district), green-skin grapefruit, O Xanh melon (Khanh Vinh district), etc. The OCOP products have made progress in terms of quality, designs, packaging, stamps, labels and origin.

The province has attached importance to searching outputs for OCOP products, especially when exported is being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and domestic market is facing competitive pressure from international economic integration.

During the past time, the province has directed related departments and branches to implement many solutions to connect, advertise and stimulate demand for products in the domestic market. Specifically, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held the OCOP exhibition booth at the national conference to summarize the 10 years of the national target program in building new urban areas in the period 2010 - 2020 in Nam Dinh province, displayed and introduced OCOP products of 3 stars or more recognized by the Provincial People's Committee at the Food Safety Week 2020 held by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) in Khanh Hoa… The provincial Farmers Association has organized agricultural product fairs to promote, introduce local products, connect supply and demand... The provincial Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Co.opmart Nha Trang to open an OCOP product selling point at supermarkets...

At the conference, Vo Dinh Dung - Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang supermarket shared, currently, OCOP products of the province are mainly fresh, seasonal and unprocessed, so their value is not high; their production scale is small; and product branding is still limited. Now, major supermarkets and commercial centers like Go !, Bach hoa xanh, Vinmart… are present in Khanh Hoa. This is a great advantage for the province to bring more local products to the market in the province as well as in the country.
