Khanh Vinh aims to increase value of agricultural products

The People's Committee of Khanh Vinh district (Khanh Hoa Province) has just approved Project of restructuring the agriculture in the direction of increasing added value and developing sustainably to 2025, and a vision to 2030.

The People's Committee of Khanh Vinh district (Khanh Hoa Province) has just approved Project of restructuring the agriculture in the direction of increasing added value and developing sustainably to 2025, and a vision to 2030. The implementation of the project will partly promote growth and build a high-value agriculture, meeting market demand on the basis of promoting local advantages.
 
Increasing product value
 
According to the leadership of the district People's Committee, the project aims to determine the structure of key crops and crops in depth, increase added value sustainably by intensive farming, increase productivity and quality, reduce price, and implement good agricultural production (GAP) to meet the market demand. At the same time, the project also aims to apply advanced scientific  technical achievements in varieties, cultivation techniques plant protection, efficiently use land, water, climate resources ... adapting to climate change and ecological environment protection.
 
Accordingly, the district sets specific targets for periods of 2021 - 2025 and 2025 - 2030. Specifically, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the production value of the agriculture - forestry - fishery is expected to increase by 6.34%/year on average. Specifically, agricultural production is set to increase 6.92%/year, forestry: 2.72%/year, aquaculture: 5.5%/year; the average production value by 2025 is planned to reach 66 million VND/ha of cultivated land, an increase of 38 million VND/ha compared to 2019; total food production is expected to reach 5,260 tons; 20% or more of fruit trees will be produced according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; 5 production areas will be given a planting area code. By 2025, the production value of the main crops will account for more than 85% of the crop production value; husbandry in inner-city areas in Khanh Vinh town will be reduced gradually; 100% of livestock establishments will register environmental records according to regulations...
 
From that base, the district aims to have 4 products registered with typical local products (OCOP program) in the period 2021 - 2025; there will be 5 agricultural cooperatives. Oriented to 2030, the targets will also increase synchronously.

Determining specialized farming areas
 
According to Nguyen Van Thuan - Vice-chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Vinh District, in order to develop a sustainable agriculture, determining areas specializing in large cultivation of key crops and animals such as green skin grapefruits, durians, jackfruits, mangos, oranges, tangerines, sugarcane, cashew nuts, material forests and livestock farms are among the key factors.
 
The district has identified concentrated production areas associated with crops, livestock, aquaculture and forestry in the district until 2030. For crops, grapefruit growing areas are identified in communes: Khanh Dong, Khanh Binh, Khanh Hiep, Khanh Trung, Khanh Nam, Khanh Phu, Khanh Thanh and Song Cau; the durian growing areas are identified in communes: Khanh Dong, Khanh Nam, Khanh Phu, Khanh Thanh and Song Cau; hi-tech agricultural production areas are set in communes: in Khanh Binh, Khanh Hiep, Khanh Trung, Khanh Nam, Song Cau and Khanh Phu...
 
In breeding, the breeding areas will develop in the form of concentrated farms in the communes: Khanh Binh, Khanh Hiep, Khanh Trung, Khanh Nam and Khanh Thuong. In aquaculture, cold-water fish farming in Son Thai and Khanh Phu communes will be invested…
 
The total investment capital to implement the project by 2030 is over VND253 billion, including more than 190 billion VND for restructuring crops and developing production, more than 2.2 billion VND for extending agriculture and forestry, more than 12.5 billion VND for supporting production organization, more than 10.2 billion for building brands, promoting brands, selling products, supporting vocational training...
 
“On the basis of the specific objectives given by the project, the district People's Committee has built 11 groups of solutions, including solutions for planning, policies and land to create favorable conditions for businesses, organizations and individuals; solutions to improve land protection, train agricultural vocations and renew production forms, solutions for post-harvest processing and selling... to improve the value and quality of products. From there, the district's agriculture will develop step by step sustainably, promote local advantages, adapt to climate change, accelerate economic development and improve people's living ”, Thuan said.
